Raspberry Zyugan: description

Raspberry “Zyugana” is one of the remontant varieties, developed in the late nineties by breeders in Switzerland. I fell in love with gardeners for large berries, unpretentiousness and ease of growing. Fruiting from mid-June until frost.

Zyugana is a medium late variety. In the southern regions, the culture bears fruit all summer until late autumn. Yields a harvest on last year’s and new shoots.

Raspberry “Zyugan” has large fruits

Has a number of features that distinguish “Zyugana” from other varieties:

  • The fruits are large, with good care they can reach up to 12 g.
  • After picking, the berries can stand in the refrigerator for a week without losing their presentation.
  • High drought tolerance, yields even without watering.
  • More than 90% of the berries are first class.
  • Fruiting in the first year.
  • It multiplies easily, gives a lot of growth.
  • The root system is powerful, the shoots are strong, which makes it possible to do without supports during the cultivation process.

All these qualities make the variety profitable for industrial cultivation. With proper care from a small area, you can get a high yield of a valuable product.

The raspberry variety “Zyugana” is unpretentious, yields a crop even with minimal maintenance. But there are a number of activities that can be performed to increase yields several times:

  • Thickening of the plantings should not be allowed, raspberries outgrow and bear fruit worse. Raspberries are planted in rows. The distance between the rows is at least 1,8 m, and between the bushes – at least 0,8 m.
  • It is necessary to regularly remove excess shoots. You can leave no more than seven young shoots. Less is also not recommended, since they live for two years, and dry up on the third.
  • In the fall and spring, it is necessary to give top dressing.
  • After feeding, you need to loosen the soil around the bushes well. This will allow air to flow to the roots and remove excess roots, preventing raspberries from growing throughout the garden.
  • In the fall, it is necessary to cut off last year’s shoots – they contain pathogens.
  • In spring, young shoots are pruned, you can leave no higher than 1,5 meters. Otherwise, there will be a lot of berries, but they will be small.

The repaired variety “Zyugana” is resistant to diseases, which makes it possible to do without chemical treatment of the garden area and to obtain an environmentally friendly product. And under the right conditions, over the summer, you can get up to 6 kg of berries from one bush.

High yield, good taste, long-term fruiting and unpretentiousness made the variety popular among gardeners. Today it can be found in many gardens in Russia.
