Treating the flu at home (how to beat the flu yourself)

Treating the flu at home (how to beat the flu yourself)

Treating a flu or a cold at home and without medication does not mean that you spend the whole week in front of the TV, drinking tea with lemon, waiting for the disease to subside on its own. You can defeat the virus without drugs. But only when you do not sit idly by.

Rule 1: a virus-beating diet

If for you home flu treatment – the most preferable way to deal with the disease, then the first thing you should do is to include some foods in your diet. Among them: chicken broth, tea with honey and raspberries, water with lemon and orange juice, a drink based on black elderberry extract, spices. Some of them help block viruses, others warm up the body from the inside and provide it with stable sweating, and still others support and strengthen the immune system. At the same time, adherence to a special diet for flu or colds implies the exclusion of some dishes from the diet – first of all, any sweets.

For the entire period of the illness, you will have to refrain from fast food, alcohol and semi-finished products. Until the flu has receded, food should be simple and light, not overloading the gastrointestinal tract system, which, as you know, “lives” a significant part of our immunity.

For the prevention of colds or already at the final stage of the flu or colds (when you already allow yourself to go out), it is useful to eat bananas, apricots, potatoes, celery or spinach. These foods are rich in potassium, and it increases blood circulation, which helps keep the body from hypothermia.

Rule 2: Healing Air

The effectiveness of treating a cold or flu at home also depends on the type of air you breathe. It is important that it is not too warm, dry and stuffy. To do this, it is necessary at least twice a day to fully ventilate these “home conditions” in which you are sick with the flu (during this time, the room, of course, should be left). In addition, a humidifier will be an excellent helper in the fight against illness. It will relieve coughs and runny nose, as well as keep the skin from dryness. If there is no humidifier, you can put a container of cool water next to the bed, after dropping a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil in it.

Rule 3: temperature conditions

Often, at the first sign of fever, people try to bring it down. Do not do this if the thermometer has not crossed the 38,5 degree mark. A rise in temperature is not just a symptom of a cold or flu, but also a sign that your body is actively fighting for your health.

Another common mistake of those who treat the flu at home: as soon as the temperature starts to rise, some run outside to the store or pharmacy, others, guided by obscure reasons, climb into a hot bath. You can not do either one or the other! With the slightest signs of an elevated temperature, do not leave the house – this will only aggravate the disease: you left the 37th, on return you will find all 39 on the thermometer. The weakened body is extremely sensitive to changes in the heat background, and moving from a warm house to cold air and back you put yourself at risk. A hot bath is even more dangerous! Staying in it, firstly, will put a huge load on the heart and blood vessels, and secondly, it will raise the already high temperature. Add a couple more degrees to your 38, and you will immediately understand why you should refrain from hot bathing.

These three rules may seem insignificant or trivial to some. And they are often ignored by those who decide to treat the flu at home. But home conditions of isolation and rest are not a guarantee of recovery from the flu. But adherence to these elementary tips, sincere concern for your own health is a completely effective way to a quick recovery without the use of drugs as part of home treatment for the flu. And see a doctor!
