Treating acne and acne (pimples) at home

As you know, the most effective way to combat acne is an integrated approach: doctor’s supervision plus regular care. And do not be upset if there is neither time nor funds for regular visits to a beautician – you can effectively treat acne and take care of skin with acne at home.

Home acne treatment and caring for acne-prone skin is not as difficult and tedious as it might seem at first glance. It is only important to follow a number of rules:

  • You should wash your face twice a day, no more. A typical mistake almost all people make when treating acne and acne at home is that they tend to wash their face as often as possible. And they use tons of cosmetics. You shouldn’t do either one or the other! Excessively frequent washing just often provokes inflammatory processes. Instead of regular soap, you should use soft foams and gels for problematic and / or oily skin, which should be consumed according to the formula “less is better.” And not so much for the sake of economy as for the sake of not exposing already unhealthy skin to additional “chemical attacks”.

  • For the period of active treatment of acne at home, try to adhere to a special diet: lean on vegetables, especially fresh ones and fruits, eat cottage cheese or other dairy products every day, but pay less attention to meat and sweets. And use bran – 3-4 times a day, one handful. This, according to some nutritionists, a magical product helps to remove from the body a large amount of toxins, which are often the main cause of acne.

  • Take complex vitamins. But only after consulting a doctor! This will help to effectively fight acne not only from the outside, but also from the inside.

  • And “hack it on your nose”: to open comedones and blackheads (and simply squeeze out pimples and blackheads) yourself is the first step to aggravating inflammation, to bring acne disease to a severe stage.

How to treat acne: homemade acne treatment recipes

Compresses, lotions and masks using biologically active ingredients will help to get rid of acne and acne on the face at home. For example:

Baking soda and bran mask

Grind 1 cup rye bran in a coffee grinder or meat grinder. Then add 1-2 teaspoons of baking soda (not baking powder, but baking soda). Mix thoroughly. This compound can be stored in a glass jar and used as needed. Dilute part of the mixture with water until a medium thick slurry is formed. Hold this gruel on your face for 5-10 minutes, then rinse off with cool water, to which you have previously added a pinch of soda.

Compress based on honey and calendula

For those who are involved in home acne treatment, this compress is a real godsend. Because it is simple, but at the same time very effective. Dissolve 1-2 teaspoons of honey in 3 glass of hot water and add 2 teaspoons of calendula tincture. Dip a few cotton pads into this solution, let them soak, squeeze a little and place them on the inflamed areas of the face. This procedure can be performed twice a day, in the morning and in the evening, after washing.

Coniferous lotion with chamomile and plantain

You will need: 2 tbsp. tablespoons of needles (fresh pine and spruce needles are best suited), 2-3 plantain leaves (in pharmacies you can buy dry, then – 2 tablespoons), as well as 1 tbsp. a spoonful of dry chamomile and calendula flowers. If you pour 0,5 boiling water over this mixture, insist and cool, you get a lotion for rinsing your face. If the same amount of the mixture is poured into 0,5 liters of vodka and infused for 7-10 days, you get a lotion for local use. It should not be applied all over the face, but should only be used to wipe the inflamed areas. And no more than once a day.

Ice cubes for washing

Another tip for home acne treatments is to replace your morning wash with ice cubes made from chamomile and St. John’s wort. First, ice is great at helping to shrink pores. And secondly, medicinal herbs will significantly reduce inflammation. So, 2 tbsp. spoons of St. John’s wort (you can take fresh, you can – dry) and 2 tbsp. tablespoons of dried chamomile flowers pour 1 liter of boiling water and cook for 5-10 minutes over low heat. Then infuse for 3-5 hours. Pour into ice cube trays and place in the freezer. Even if there are no acne, but the skin is considered prone to acne – such a wash every morning will help prevent inflammation.

If you regularly treat and prevent acne at home, then you should know that it is better to wash off all masks with warm water with the addition of vinegar (but not more than 1 tablespoon per 1 liter of water). And remember that you should not be zealous with masks – 1-2 procedures per week will be enough. But rubbing and compresses, if there is no allergy to their components, can be combined with daily washing.
