Arriving to rest, for several days we cannot disconnect from work and everyday problems. And it’s a pity to spend vacation days on adaptation. What to do? And how to relax without stress?

“To be honest, it’s only in the second week of my vacation that I start to really relax. And in the first days I come to my senses after the flight, I can’t fall asleep in a new place, I heal sunburns. And, of course, I check my email all the time. Gradually I get into a vacation rut, turn off my mobile, relax … and I understand that there is nothing left to rest, ”the story of 37-year-old Anastasia, head of the financial department, is familiar to many. At first they don’t want to let you go on vacation, then they give you a week, then barely two. Before the trip, you practically spend the night at work, trying to redo a lot of things. And as a result, the accumulated stress does not really allow you to relax. To prevent this from happening and the vacation starts immediately, master a few tricks.

Prepare

Create a «suitcase mood» — in the truest sense of the word. Take out your travel bag and put a couple of beach things in it every night. Shopping will help create the mood: buying sunglasses, a swimsuit and, of course, a new, frivolous fragrance. Do not use it until the day of departure. Let the new perfume be the first breath of freedom and carelessness.

A couple of weeks before departure, start taking supplements that will prepare the skin for tanning. They will saturate the body with lycopene, beta-carotene and other substances that will increase the protective ability of the skin and give a golden tan. And serums to prepare the skin for sunbathing help to establish the production of melanin.

In the first days of vacation, you want to tan faster, but we don’t need burns. Many magazines advise you to apply a self-tanner beforehand to even out the skin, hide cellulite and spider veins. But Jacques Proust, who heads the anti-aging center at the Swiss clinic Genolier, is skeptical: “The base of auto-bronzers, dihydroxyacetone, reacts with skin proteins, causing it to darken. It has been proven that this produces free radicals that damage cells, dry and age the skin. In addition, by becoming darker, the skin attracts more sunlight, and the UV attack on it increases.”

At the same time, the professor has a positive attitude towards solariums. True, with a caveat: you need to spend no more than two minutes a day there. The first moments of ultraviolet attack stimulate the production of special proteins in the skin — chaperones, which enhance its self-defense. If you run into a solarium for a couple of minutes during the week, you can become noticeably darker and saturate your skin with useful chaperones. But chaperones will not replace sunscreen on the beach.

Up in the Air

Flying is stressful for the body. What to do? Fence off. Download your favorite songs, audiobooks and movies to your gadgets, put on your headphones and don’t look around.

Try to eat at home and not eat on the plane. Moisturize your face, hands, lips and do not rely on the effectiveness of thermal sprays: the drops evaporate quickly, almost without penetrating the skin. But they will retain moisture in the hair well, so it is better to spray them over your head. Better yet, tie a silk scarf around your head. Silk perfectly moisturizes and protects hair.

To prevent swelling of the legs, apply in advance, and if possible in flight, a draining gel.

First thing

When checking into a hotel, sign up for a massage or a hammam. During the flight, toxins accumulate in the skin, which must be removed, and only then go to the beach. In extreme cases, a hot bath with relaxing oil or salt is also suitable.

Sunglasses save the eyes from cataracts, and the eyelids from wrinkles. If only they didn’t leave treacherous white circles on the face and dashes across the bridge of the nose!

To “blur the lines”, take several models of different sizes with you and change them. Do not forget to apply protective cream on your eyelids.

Shed your skin

Under the influence of UV rays, the stratum corneum of the skin thickens, enhancing the protection of deep areas. Because of this, she becomes rude. Soften it daily with a scrub. And so that its grains do not irritate the skin exhausted by the sun, mix the product with body milk. Not necessarily expensive: what is in the bathroom of the hotel will do. Apply the «cocktail» with gentle circular motions. Rinse off and generously moisturize your skin with after-sun cream. If you didn’t bring a scrub with you, you can replace it with salt and sugar, mixing them with plenty of milk.

Be sure to take a heel grater with you and use it daily after a shower. Otherwise, due to sand, sun and sea water, the feet will become coarse and covered with cracks. Instead of foot cream, hotel body milk is suitable.

Don’t forget your nails. So that the skin around them does not seem white, rub in a cream or oil, you can use olive oil.

You did everything right, put on an SPF 50 cream twice an hour, hid your face under a hat, and went into the shade at noon. But on the last day they decided that they didn’t tan enough, and made up for lost time under direct rays. And then on the plane they could not lean against the back of the chair because of the burnt back.

Familiar? Restrain your impulses by gradually reducing the degree of protection, but not below SPF 15 for the face and 10 for the body. Then the tan will be beautiful, and the skin will remain unharmed.

Overweight

Sweating at the gym, limiting ourselves to food, spending money on massages and body wraps, we proudly show off our beautiful silhouette and … break down at the very first dinner. Comforting ourselves with the fact that “if I was able to become slim for the holidays, I can after,” we return the lost kilograms by the end of the holiday.

Make it a rule to follow the principles of separate meals at the resort and get by with one dessert. Do not neglect water aerobics, yoga and other offers of the hotel. This will help diversify the rest and tighten the figure.

Don’t lose face

If the skin is accustomed to active care, do not deprive it of this on vacation. Apply your usual serum under your sunscreen, and in the evening replenish your skin with a proven night remedy. Be sure to take vitamin C, a complex of omega acids (they have a beneficial effect on both the skin and the nervous system), “solar” supplements that you drank before the holidays.

And the last, important rule. The Internet must be forgotten! And not only mail and news sites, but also Facebook (an extremist organization banned in Russia) and Instagram (an extremist organization banned in Russia). Otherwise, it will not work completely. Buy a local SIM card, tell the number only to those closest to you, and turn off your regular phone. If something paramount happens, the authorities will find a way to contact you, and if not, they will wait for your return.
