Protecting young people at risk

Administrative protection

From the teacher, to a neighbor, via a doctor, anyone who can alert the administrative services of his department, if he believes that a minor is in danger.

The general council and the services placed under its authority (social assistance service for children, maternal and child protection, etc.) are responsible for “providing material, educational and psychological support to minors and their families […] who are confronted with social difficulties likely to seriously compromise their balance ”. They therefore ensure the protection of the minor, in the event of possible danger.

A qui s’adresser?

– To the General Council of his department to find out the contact details of the Child Welfare Service.

– By phone: “Hello childhood maltreated” at 119 (toll-free number).

Judicial protection

If administrative protection is insufficient or fails, justice intervenes, seized by the prosecution. He himself is alerted by services, such as child welfare or maternal and child protection. For this, “the health, safety or morals of a minor [must be] in danger or the conditions of education seriously compromised”. From “shaken babies” to underage prostitution, the areas are very wide.

The juvenile judge then carries out any useful investigation (social investigation or expertise) to make a decision.
