Nutrition for pneumonia

General description of the disease

Inflammation of the lungs (pneumonia) is an infectious disease that occurs as a result of complications of various diseases or as an independent disease.

Most often, the disease is severe, and the treatment is prescribed by a physician. Diagnosis of pneumonia occurs by listening to breathing through a stethoscope, percussion (tapping the walls of the chest), X-ray, bronchoscopy, general blood tests, urine and sputum secreted from the lungs.

Varieties of pneumonia

  • Croupous inflammation of the lungs (mainly the lower lobes of the lungs are affected).
  • Focal pneumonia (lesions occur in the form of foci).

Causes:

  • Poor living and working conditions (damp cold rooms, drafts, malnutrition).
  • Complication after severe infectious diseases.
  • Reduced immunity (after operations, various kinds of diseases, HIV, AIDS).
  • Quite frequent diseases of the upper respiratory tract.
  • Bad habits (alcohol and smoking).
  • Evidence of chronic diseases (coronary heart disease, heart failure, pyelonephritis).

  • Due to stagnation of blood, general body edema occurs.

RџSЂRё focal inflammation rather sluggish, almost imperceptible symptoms appear:

  • Low temperature (up to 37,7 °).

  • Long period of illness with exacerbations.
  • The onset of a chronic form of the disease is possible.

General recommendations

The main task in the fight against pneumonia is overcoming the inflammatory process, removing the formed toxins and restoring the natural epithelium of the inner surface of the lungs. The patient should be provided with comfortable conditions of stay: bed rest, rest, a warm room, which is often ventilated (at least 3-4 times a day), daily wet cleaning of the room, moderate food for appetite and increased drinking.

During a period of high temperature, a sufficient amount of liquid should be present in the diet, at least 2 liters per day (take 40-200 ml every 400 minutes), and during the retreat of the disease, you need to enrich the diet with vitamins and minerals as much as possible. It should also be borne in mind that during the period of conservative treatment of pneumonia, antibiotics are usually used, so probiotics should be included in the diet. The diet should contain a sufficient amount of foods that contain calcium, vitamin A and B vitamins.
