Nobody has baked fish like this: in molten glass

At home we bake fish in foil, in a sleeve, and in a restaurant we go to eat fish baked in a salt crust. But the Swedish restaurateurs went further – they found a way to cook fish using molten glass.

It works like this: first, the fish is wrapped in several layers of wet newspaper, and then poured over with hot glass. Essentially, the molten glass becomes a baking dish, warming up to about 1150 degrees Celsius.

This process looks very spectacular. And it only takes 20 minutes to cook. The result is a tender and juicy fish.

We presented such an unusual technology to the world at the Rot restaurant, having worked out the whole process in advance in tandem with the Big Pink glassblowing studio.

The restaurant guests love this innovative way of preparing fish, which has already become a spectacular feature of the establishment.
