Lirra Gem – preparation composition, action, dosage, contraindications

Lirra Gem is an antiallergic medicine in the form of film-coated tablets. The drug relieves symptoms of allergies such as rhinitis and skin reactions (urticaria).

The composition of the preparation Lirra Gem

The active substance in Lirra Gem is levocetirizine dihydrochloride. Each tablet of Lirra Gem contains 5 mg of this substance.

In addition, Lirra Gem contains excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide and macrogol 400.

The action of Lirra Gem

Lirra Gem belongs to the group of antihistamines, which means that it inhibits the production of histamine and thus – reduces allergy symptoms.

Indications for the use of Lirra Gem

Lirra Gem is used symptomatically in the case of allergic rhinitis, also chronic, and allergic urticaria.

Contraindications to the use of Lirra Gem

Lirra Gem contains lactose, therefore it is not recommended for people who are intolerant to this sugar.

Lirra Gem is not intended for patients who are allergic to the active substance of the preparation or any other component of the preparation.

Lirra Gem is not recommended for patients with severe kidney problems.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before using Lirra Gem.

Lirra Gem should not be given to children under 5 years of age.

Dosage Lirra Gem

Lirra Gem is most often taken at a dose of 1 tablet a day. Do not suck, chew or crush the tablet – swallow it whole with a drink of water. The drug can be taken regardless of meals.

Side effects of Lirra Gem

Lirra Gem may cause drowsiness, fatigue and exhaustion in some patients.

There may also be dry mouth, headache, abdominal pain and (very rarely) palpitations, seizures, dizziness, tremors, fainting, taste disturbances, labyrinth problems, skin problems, shortness of breath, weight gain, lack of appetite, nausea and psychological symptoms such as suicidal ideation, insomnia and aggressive behavior.

Precautions when using Lirra Gem

Lirra Gem should not be used for more than 10 days without consulting a doctor.

Due to the possible side effects in the form of drowsiness and fatigue, it is not advisable to use machines or drive while using Lirra Gem. Particular care should be taken in this regard, especially in the initial phase of taking the preparation, when the patient does not know yet how he will react to the drug substance in Lirra Gem.

Do not combine the use of Lirra Gem with the consumption of alcohol, as it may increase the effect of the drug.

Lirra Gem should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The preparation should be stored at room temperature, in a tightly closed container, out of the sight and reach of children.
