Import and export text files to Excel

This article describes how to import or export text files. Text files can be separated by commas (.csv) or tabs (.txt).

Import

To import text files, follow our instructions:

  1. On the Advanced tab Fillet (File) click Open (Open).
  2. From the drop down list select Text Files (Text files).
  3. To import a file…
    • CSV, select a document with extension . Csv And click the Open (Open). It’s all.
    • TXT, select a document with extension .txt and click on Open (Open). Excel will launch Text Import Wizard (Wizard of texts (import)).
  4. Выберите Delimited (with separators) and press Next (Further).Import and export text files to Excel
  5. Remove all checkboxes except the one opposite Tab (Tab) and click Next (Further).Import and export text files to Excel
  6. Press Finish (Ready).Import and export text files to Excel

Export

To export an Excel workbook to a text file, do the following:

  1. Open an Excel document.
  2. On the Advanced tab Fillet (File) click Save As (Save as).
  3. From the drop down list select Text (Tab delimited) (Text files (tab delimited)) or CSV (Comma delimited) (CSV (separated by commas)).Import and export text files to Excel
  4. Press Save (Save).

Result: CSV file (comma delimited) and TXT file (tab delimited).
