– This house was built in 1997, and I bought it five years ago in a very deplorable state: everything in an eerie color scheme, in the style of the 90s, made at random. But its location outweighed all the cons. Only 17 kilometers from Moscow, amazing air, mixed forest nearby, ecologically clean area, there is a toll road along which you can get to the metro in 20 minutes, leave your car there and drive on.
I saw my future housing as cozy, spacious, bright, with a minimum amount of furniture. I ordered a project from friends of the designers, they took into account all the wishes, hired a team and the workers began to dismantle the old structures. This very initial part was supposed to take two months, but it dragged on for six months, because when the drywall was removed from the walls, many problems were revealed. As a result, the budget for the refurbishment has increased dramatically.
I had to change all the water supply, heating, put in a system for purifying and balancing the ph of the water, and now it can be drunk directly from the tap. At the same time, the designers and I began to implement what we had in mind. But it turned out to be not entirely digestible. Now the ground floor has a flat floor, it flows from one room to another, and earlier there were high thresholds everywhere. To even out this, a million building mixtures had to be poured.
On the second floor, the problem was even worse. For example, the threshold between rooms is 14 centimeters high. The structure was not strong, it could not withstand the screed and just fall down. As a result, instead of a year, the repair took 20 months.
I lived right in this construction site with Leo the Labrador, and later the cat Igrik also appeared. There was no other opportunity, for example, to rent an apartment, because all the money went into the house. Since childhood, Leo has a need for a toy in his teeth, so everything that was lying on the floor, some materials, screws, he dragged everything into his mouth and gnawed. The workers had to hide tools from him so as not to be fired.
The dog tolerated the repair well, it was given to me worse. She was allergic to dust, my eyes were swollen and watery all the time. Plus I lived at the bottom of the pool! They put all the furniture in the room where he is, and my bed – in the pool itself. It was terrible and morally difficult. The bath was working halfway. It was used by the builders to mix all the solutions, and I. Therefore, the first thing I asked them to do was my bedroom and bath, so that I could take a shower in peace.
Naturally, when these rooms were finished, the cat moved there with me. Since then, a dog has lived below, and the second floor is the territory of Igrik. Doesn’t let anyone go there. I tried to move him into the corridor – it’s useless. Therefore, I decided to leave everything as it is.
And the pool is now covered with boards. I do not plan to use it: it is expensive to maintain and clean. Later, a sports hall will appear in its place.
My favorite places in the house are the kitchen and living room. I designed the kitchen myself. The designers proposed the facades, I left them, and I planned all the content, location and functionality for myself, so that it was convenient, because I love to cook. I already have experience in this business, I set up a kitchen in an apartment and this time I took into account past mistakes. Then we placed the refrigerator in the wrong place, now it is in its place.
The technique was a separate story. I chose it on the website, folded it in my personal account and hoped to buy it from my salary, but suddenly a message comes: “Black Friday, minus 40 percent.” I saw how everything became cheaper, and quickly bought it with such a discount. True, I could not use it right away, the equipment was stored in a warehouse in the store for another three months, and then it stood for a long time in the dust, wrapped in cellophane, and waited until the repair was over. But now I enjoy it.
Every time children (Karina is 23 years old, Angelina is 18 years old, Ekaterina is 6 years old. – Approx. “Antennas”) go to visit, ask if I will make this or that dish. I answer: “Yes, if you help!” The elders are already adults and come with their young people. A lot of people gather, but there is enough room for everyone.
We cook together in the kitchen, and then we go into the living room. It is spacious. Nothing remained of the previous owners in the house, except for an old chandelier in the form of some magical sign that hangs in this room. She was the only thing that was beautiful here. The fireplace also resisted, but underwent changes, it was tiled in a European manner. Unfortunately, it is not built correctly. It is no longer possible to intervene in the chimney and fix something, the workers could only close up the cracks in the attic, so it smokes a little. However, this is not scary, the house is still a living organism and all fireplaces produce soot.
