10 familiar things that will disappear from everyday life in 20 years

So far, we use them almost every day. But life and everyday life are changing so quickly that soon these things will become real antiques.

Cassette recorders and computer floppy disks, mechanical meat grinders and bulky hair dryers with a hose, even mp3 players – very few people have such rarities at home. Moreover, most likely to stumble upon a meat grinder, because this thing is made for centuries. But evolution and progress spare no one. Both dinosaurs and pagers are already of about the same order of magnitude. We have collected 10 more things that will very soon be forgotten and disappear from everyday life.

1. Plastic cards

They are much more convenient than cash, but they will not be able to resist the onslaught of technical progress. Experts believe that digital payments will finally replace plastic cards: PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and other systems. Experts believe that this payment method is not only more convenient than a physical card, but also safer: your data is more secure than with conventional cards. The transition to digital payments is already in full swing, so soon plastic will remain only for those who cannot adapt to new technologies – or do not want to.

2. Taxi with driver

Western experts are confident that soon there will be no need to drive cars: a robot will take the place of a human. Autonomous vehicles are planned to be produced not only by Tesla, but also by Ford, BMW and Daimler. Machines, of course, are unlikely to be able to completely replace a person, but they will gradually oust people from behind the wheel. Most taxis are predicted to be driven by robots by 2040.

3. Keys

Losing a bunch of keys is just a nightmare. After all, you will have to change the locks, and this is not cheap. In the West, they have already begun to switch to electronic locks, like in hotels. Cars also learned to start without using the ignition key. In Russia, the trend for electronic locks has not yet fully developed, but there is no doubt that it will also reach us. It will be possible to open and close the doors using an application on a smartphone. And by the time the technology appears in our wide market, there will be systems of protection against hackers.

4. Confidentiality and anonymity

But this is a little sad. We live in a time when personal information is becoming less and less personal. However, we ourselves contribute to this by starting public photo albums – pages on social networks. In addition, there are more and more cameras on the streets, in large cities they are just at every corner, watching every step. And with the development of biometrics – a technology that allows for facial recognition and identification – the space for private life is increasingly narrowing. And on the Internet, anonymity is becoming less and less.

5. Cable TV

Who needs it when digital TV is so advanced? Yes, now any provider is ready to provide you with a package of dozens of TV channels complete with Internet access. But cable TV is steadily squeezing out services like Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon and other entertainment content providers. Firstly, they will fully meet the tastes of subscribers, and secondly, they will cost even less than a package of cable channels.

6. TV remote

It’s even strange that nothing has yet been invented to replace him. But experts believe that this will happen in the near future: the remote, which is always lost, will replace the voice control. After all, Siri and Alice have already learned how to talk with the owners of smartphones and tablets, why not learn how to change channels?

7. Plastic bags

For many years, the Russian authorities have been trying to ban plastic bags. So far this is not very real: there is simply nothing to replace them with. In addition, just imagine what layer of our everyday life will go into oblivion along with the package of bags! However, concern for the environment is becoming a trend, and what the hell is not kidding – plastic can really be in the past.

8. Chargers for gadgets

In their usual form – a cord and a plug – the chargers will cease to exist very soon, especially since the movement has already begun. Wireless chargers have already appeared. While this technology is available only to owners of the latest generation smartphones, but as is always the case with technologies, they will spread very quickly and become more affordable, including at a price. The case when progress is definitely beneficial.

9. Cash desks and cashiers

Self-service cash desks have already appeared in large supermarkets. While not all goods can be “pierced” there, simply because some purchases need to be grown up. But the trend is obvious: the process is going faster, and the need for cashiers is decreasing. It is still cooler abroad: the buyer scans the product when he puts it in a basket or cart, and at the exit he reads the total from the built-in scanner, pays and picks up the purchases. It is also convenient because during shopping you can see how much you will have to fork out for at the exit.

10. Passwords

Security experts believe that passwords, which are a set of characters, are already outdated. Physical passwords, which need to be memorized and kept in mind, are being replaced by new ways of authentication – fingerprint, face, and technology will soon step even further. Experts are confident that the data protection system will become easier for the user, but at the same time more reliable.

And what else?

And the print press will gradually disappear. The downward trend in paper runs is picking up speed at an insane pace. In addition, it is likely that in Russia, following the example of Western countries, they will refuse a civil passport, which will replace a single card – it will be a passport, a policy, and other important documents. The work book can also remain in the past, like paper medical cards, which are always lost in clinics anyway.
