In 2010, the composition of the car first-aid kit was approved, and its contents have not changed for ten years. But on October 8, 2020, the Ministry of Health issued an order in which new requirements for the composition of first-aid kits were approved. They came into effect on January 1, 2021.

The composition of the car first aid kit in 2022
From January 1, 2021, drivers must purchase new first-aid kits. The specialists of the Ministry of Health finally decided to look into the composition of the suitcase and found a bunch of meaningless things inside. For example, six types of bandages and a lot of individually wrapped adhesive plasters – the effectiveness of such a set is doubtful.
But they are not yet forced to throw away and shake up first-aid kits purchased in 2020 and earlier. All packs purchased before January 1, 2021 can be used until they expire. You must replace the kit no later than December 31, 2024.
Here is the composition of the car first aid kit 2022:
- Two non-sterile disposable medical masks.
- Two pairs of medical non-sterile disposable gloves, size M or larger.
- Two packs of sterile gauze wipes measuring at least 16 by 14 cm (size No. 10).
- One hemostatic tourniquet.
- One device for artificial respiration “Mouth-Device-Mouth”.
- Four gauze bandages measuring at least 5 m x 10 cm.
- Three gauze bandages measuring at least 7 m x 14 cm.
- One fixing roll-on adhesive plaster measuring at least 2 x 500 cm.
- One scissors.
- First aid instructions.
What should not be in the first aid kit
Previously, in a car first-aid kit, it was necessary to carry heart, painkillers, disinfectants, diarrhea, allergies, etc. But now, in the manner prescribed by law, the driver does not need to take any pills, ammonia or other medications with him. But this does not mean that you, on your own initiative, cannot supplement the first-aid kit with drugs that may come in handy on the road. What medicines to put in addition to the first-aid kit is up to you. There are no restrictions, the main thing is that in addition to the medicines you want, the first-aid kit contains the mandatory medical items listed above.
According to the law of the Federation, any non-prohibited drugs can be included in a medical travel case.. You can put anything in there, including painkillers, because a headache or a toothache can seriously distract from driving a car and reduce attentiveness.
If you have a headache, Ibuprofen or Pentalgin will help out. They are often found in the car first aid kit because they are fast acting. With toothache, Ketanov is an effective remedy.
ARVI or flu can be taken by surprise even on the way home from work, and then you can take an antipyretic right in the traffic jam, put medicines containing paracetamol or ibuprofen there for quick action.

At the moment, automotive first aid kit costs 350 rubles on average – the absence of some drugs significantly affected the cost reduction. The expiration date of a first aid kit is always indicated on its packaging. Dressings and bandages can last for many years, but plasters and tourniquets are only allowed to be used for 5-6 years.
Due to the fact that medicines are no longer present in the medicine cabinet, its shelf life has increased significantly and now stands at 4,5 years. Another six months is allocated to the driver to replace it.
Absence penalty
If the driver does not have a first aid kit in the car, employees The traffic police have the right to give him a warning or even issue a minimum fine of 500 rubles, according to Article 12.5.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Federation.
The same penalty applies for insufficiently completed emergency kit or expired components – if you are missing one of the medical items.
