One of the wisest poems that speaks about the difference between the psychotherapeutic and developmental approach goes like this:

The Lord gave me three wonderful qualities:

Courage to fight where difficulties can be overcome,

Humility to accept the situation where difficulties are insurmountable,

and Wisdom — do not confuse these two situations.

It seems that we often lack wisdom, and we have problems when we start a fight where difficulties cannot be overcome, and humble ourselves where a struggle was possible.

The courage to fight is a worthy masculine quality, but without female flexibility, without the readiness to see situations where the struggle is no longer promising, this courage to fight turns out to be senseless obstinacy and empty reasoning. See →

Humility to accept is a wonderful manifestation of female flexibility, but without male readiness to fight, without courage in life, it easily turns into womanish weakness, into the helplessness of the Victim where difficulties are completely surmountable. See →

Psychotherapy, where, for one reason or another, an inadequate tilt is made towards a masculine or soft feminine approach, acquires the features of a sick psychotherapy.
