At the mention of strawberries, the image of bright red juicy berries appears before us. However, not all berries of this species are red. White strawberries are no worse than their red “colleague”. On the contrary, it has many advantages of its own.

Benefits of garden white strawberries

The main advantage of this berry is its hypoallergenicity. The Fra a1 protein makes up the red strawberry. In white, it is absent, therefore, after ripening, it does not change its color. Allergy to Fra a1 protein is widespread. Since there is no such protein in white berries, they do not cause allergies either. If you are allergic, you can safely feast on this gift of nature.

White strawberries can sometimes have a slight pinkish tint.

  • easy to grow, no need to use chemicals for cultivation, so you can get an environmentally friendly product;

  • most varieties are remontant, that is, they can bear fruit twice a season.

  • Anablanca. French variety. In our country, it is still quite rare. The bushes are small, they can be planted quite densely, so it will be possible to harvest a good harvest from a small area. The berries are small, with an average weight of 5-8 g. There is a barely noticeable pink in their color. The pulp is white, juicy, sweet. Many small bones are present. There are notes of pineapple in the taste and smell.
  • “White Swede”. The largest variety. The average weight of the berries is 20-25 g. Their shape is correct, conical. The taste is sweet and sour, there are notes of mulberry and pineapple. The advantage of the variety is that it is not afraid of drought and cold weather.
  • Pineberry. Dutch low-yielding, but very unpretentious variety. The berries are tiny – up to 3 g, with a strong pineapple flavor.
  • “White Soul”. High-yielding variety. During the season, 0,5 kg of the crop can be harvested from the bush. Fruits are of a delicate creamy color.

All the varieties described are unpretentious, they are easy to plant and grow.
