What to bring with you to the hospital

We must pay tribute to the fact that a lot depends on the nature of the institution where your future birth will take place. Much of the list is in private maternity hospitals, which cannot be said about public hospitals. But along with this, there are things that you will not find in any of the hospitals, so you need to take care of their availability.

First, you need to know what to put all things into. Many people know that with a gym bag you may not be allowed to the hospital in accordance with sanitary standards. That is why we put all things in plastic bags in advance. Now let’s get down to the list itself.

The first thing to put in the bag is the documents: passport, insurance policy, exchange card and contract for those who give birth on a paid basis.

If you are going to give birth without the presence of your husband, then you must take care to be constantly in touch – take a mobile phone and a charger to it.

Just in case, do not forget about a bottle of still water. This applies to those who give birth for the first time, because childbirth can take up to 12 hours, and during the period of contractions, you are very thirsty.

If you know about an upcoming caesarean section or varicose veins, then bring elastic bandages with you.

There must be personal hygiene items: a towel, toothpaste, toothbrush, comb, soap, shampoo, toilet paper and postpartum sanitary pads. For utensils, check in advance. If it is not available at the hospital, then your list will expand slightly and will be supplemented with forks, spoons, cups and plates.

The next item is clothing. Place a robe, nightgown or pajamas, slippers, and underwear in the bag. You can also purchase a postpartum brace to restore your abdominal shape.

The hospital does not always have an electric kettle or water heater. Such an item is required if you are in a public hospital. You need to know that a nursing mother should drink enough fluids.

We have already talked about things for mom. But what should you take for a newborn? No need to bring suits, rompers and shirts. All this will be needed at home, and in the maternity hospital it can be replaced by ordinary diapers – about 5 pieces of thin and 5 pieces of warm. Let’s not forget about more modern things – diapers. There is definitely no substitute for this, while they are absolutely safe for the baby. For diapers, do not forget to put wet wipes and baby cream under the diaper. Since there can be problems with washing, napkins will help you well. A diaper cream is necessary to prevent diaper rash in a newborn.

A dummy is an individual thing, it causes a lot of controversy and controversy among specialists. Some say that it is not necessary to take it, while the second argue that it is a very irreplaceable thing. On the one hand, it is such a “distracting manner” that will give mom about 20 minutes of rest, or tell her when the baby wants to eat. On the other hand, if you plan to breastfeed your baby, it is not recommended to teach the baby to dummy for at least the first month.

The discharge kit consists of a beautiful blanket, undershirt, nappies, cap and headscarf. You can take it with you right away or instruct your family to bring it.

There is also a list of things that you don’t need to take to the hospital – it’s just pointless. Firstly, decorative cosmetics and perfumery are included in such a “black list”. Strong odors will irritate not only your baby, but also the roommates, they can also cause allergies. Second on the list is drugs. You should be aware that not all medicines are allowed for both pregnant and lactating mothers. If you are prescribed something, the hospital has a pharmacy where you can buy everything.

The third place is taken by the breast pump. There is an opinion that expressing does not lead to an increase in the amount of milk, because it is produced as much as the baby can eat.

We hope that you have learned our advice and will be ready for such an important event in life as the birth of a child.
