PSYchology

Survival is the salvation and provision of an acceptable standard of living for a definite or indefinite period to a person or a group of persons.

This is the preservation of life at the minimum acceptable level. Survive where it is impossible to live. Survival is always a stressful state, when all the body’s reserves are mobilized and aimed at saving one’s life.

physiological survival

This is the survival of an organism in a state when it does not have enough food, water, heat or air for normal functioning.

When the organism survives, it ceases to nourish the systems that it now needs to a lesser extent. First of all, the reproductive system is turned off. This has an evolutionary meaning: if you survive, the conditions for life are not suitable, it is not the time to have offspring: it will not survive, all the more.

Physiological survival cannot be eternal — sooner or later, if the conditions still remain the same and the body cannot adapt to them, the body dies.

Survival as a life strategy

Due to our civilized existence, we rarely encounter physiological survival.

But survival as a life strategy is very common. Behind this strategy is a vision, when the world is poor in resources, a person is surrounded by enemies, it’s stupid to think about big goals and helping others — you yourself would survive.

«Survive» is now loaded with a different meaning than just to preserve biological existence. The modern «survive» is closer in meaning to preserving everything acquired by overwork — status, level of consumption, level of communication, etc.

Survival strategies are opposed to the strategies of Growth and Development, Achievement and Prosperity.
