People at risk

Anyone can catch the parasite that causes toxoplasmosis because it is widespread all over the world.

  • The pregnant women can transmit the disease to the fetus, which can lead to serious health problems.

People with weakened immune systems are at greater risk for serious health problems:

  • People with SIDA / VIH.
  • People who follow a chemotherapy.
  • People who take steroids or drugs immunosuppressants.
  • People who have received transplantation.

Risk factors

  • Be in contact with cat feces by handling soil or litter.
  • Live or travel in countries whose sanitary conditions are deficient (water or contaminated meat).
  • Very rarely, toxoplasmosis can be transmitted by organ transplant or a blood transfusion.
