Other approaches to hepatitis B

Basic measures. For both acute and chronic forms of hepatitis B, the holistic approach emphasizes even more than the strictly medical approach on the importance of a healthy lifestyle that includes:

– Rest;

– food measures;

– strict vigilance in the face of the hepatotoxic effect of certain substances (drugs, industrial pollutants);

– the management of negative emotions.

For more information, see Hepatitis.

Homeopathy. It can help or relieve some symptoms in acute or chronic hepatitis. See Hepatitis.

Traditional chinese medicine

Acupuncture. Acupuncture is of definite interest in cases of acute or chronic hepatitis B, to stimulate liver function. See the general sheet Hepatitis as well as “Phytotherapy” above.

Cordyceps. (Cordyceps sinensis). This medicinal mushroom of Tibetan origin is well known in Chinese medicine. Research in humans suggests that, taken orally, this fungus may be effective in chronic hepatitis B in improving liver function.2

Body approaches. In acute hepatitis, the different forms of massage act as support or relief as appropriate. See Hepatitis.

Clay. It is used externally (to relieve a painful liver) or internally (to support the liver). See Hepatitis.

Hydrotherapy. Alternating hot and cold compresses can be helpful in acute hepatitis. See Hepatitis.

Ayurvedic medicine. Traditional medicine from India offers solutions for both acute and chronic hepatitis (see Hepatitis). For hepatitis B in particular, she also recommends a mixture of the following plants:

– kutki (Pirrirrhiza curry), 200 mg;

– guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), 300 mg;

— shanka pushpi (Evolvulus alsinoides), 400 mg.

This mixture is taken twice a day after midday and evening meals.
