Knee pain - causes and adviceKnee pain – causes and advice

None of us fully appreciates how important the knees are in the proper functioning of the body. We often underestimate their pain, explaining it with fatigue or strain, not realizing that our knee joints require help. It also happens that the problem with the joints is the first signal that something disturbing is happening before we feel other, more characteristic symptoms of the disease.

The knee is part of the joint hinged, the function of which is to bend, which allows us to walk, run, but also sit or kneel. In addition, it keeps our body in an upright position, without involving a large amount of muscles. Keep in mind that the knee joints are the largest joints in our body.

They often cause us trouble, their pain can be the result of mechanical injury, but also damage due to wear and inflammation. The sooner we realize the scale of the problem, the sooner we will deal with it, because the pain that persists for some time will not pass by itself. We don’t seem to notice how important they are until they fail, but when something goes wrong and until recently the simplest activities are a challenge, a red light goes on in our head.

Formerly knee pain treated only with ice or hot compresses. Now you should follow the recommendations, i.e. weight control, massages, rehabilitation, the use of warming gels, rest or limiting excessive activity, but not completely giving up movement because without it our joints would colloquially “stay”. You should also pay attention to choosing the right shoes. Wrong shoes can also cause us problems, beautiful, leg-shaping high heels are a real challenge not only for the knee joints but also for the spine. What we eat, i.e. our diet, is extremely important. Recent research suggests that the slightest change in our nutrition has a positive effect on the condition of our knees.

Scientists suggest enriching our daily diet with fish, spinach, onions, drinking orange and currant juices, which contain a very large amount of vitamin C, and using ginger for dishes. Also, try to consume dairy products every day, in the form of milk, yoghurts, white cheese, etc. Calcium contained in them is a building block of cartilage. Legumes and cereals produce goo, which is very necessary for the proper functioning of all joints, not just the knees. You also need to listen to the advice of our mothers, who told us to eat jelly, both meat and fish, as well as fruit. They contain collagen, which facilitates the regeneration of joints. Let’s avoid white bread, red meat, animal fats, fast food, but also large amounts of alcohol, coffee or strong tea, all these products in large amounts are harmful to our joints. Sometimes, however, you need to reach for painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs or go to a specialist. According to research, over 7 million Poles suffer from various types of rheumatic diseases. So let’s try not to let this happen. Let’s save the knee joints, after all, they have to serve us for the rest of our lives.
