It turns out that frozen orange juice is healthier than fresh
 

Spanish scientists from the University of Seville came to interesting and surprising conclusions. According to their research, orange juice is healthier when frozen and thawed.

It would seem strange, because it is well known that fresh products are much healthier, without any kind of processing – heat or cold.

But experts say the opposite. They found that the body can absorb more antioxidants from thawed orange juice than from fresh or pasteurized juice. This is because when orange juice is frozen and thawed, beneficial compounds called carotenoids are broken down into smaller particles that are easier for the intestines to absorb.

By the way, these particles have been previously shown to have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties and also help prevent heart disease.

 

Although the concentration of carotenoids in frozen orange juice was lower than in fresh juice, they are more easily absorbed by the intestines. And in fresh juice, although they are at the maximum, they are less absorbed by the intestines. There is only one conclusion – freeze and thaw orange juice again in order to get the maximum benefit from it.
