Taking water treatments is associated with freshness and cleanliness. Therefore, despite modern design solutions, the white color of the bath is still considered a classic option. However, keeping this whiteness is not always easy.

Any bathtub, regardless of the material from which it is made, in the absence of proper care, over time can become coated and yellow, which will give your bathroom a completely ugly look. Most often this problem occurs with cast iron bathtubs, in contrast to acrylic ones, on which dirt almost does not settle. Any bathtub should be washed as often as possible, and preferably after each use.

How to whiten a cast iron bath

For bleaching, you will need the following products: – cleaning powder; – soda; – creamy products for acrylic baths; – citric acid; – products containing chlorine or acids; – vinegar.

First, rinse the bathtub with water, sprinkle it with powder, rub it vigorously with a sponge. If the plaque is not immediately removed, try repeating this procedure again. It is better to use a metal sponge together with powder only if the bath is far from new and covered with small cracks.

Bleaching with soda is also considered very effective – a universal remedy that has been popular since the eighteenth century. In order to whiten the bath, it is necessary to dilute the soda with water, getting a gruel. Apply soda paste to the surface of the tub, leave to dry and remove with a sponge.

Rust or deposits can be removed with a cleaning powder and chlorine-based cleaner. The latter must be applied to the surface of the bath for 10-15 minutes and then simply rinsed off with warm water.

When working with products containing chlorine, it is advisable to wear a mask or try not to breathe fumes

If your bathtub is brand new, then it is better to use gentle, creamy consistency so as not to damage the enamel. Modern products often contain acids that can remove the most stubborn dirt. Always wear gloves when using them.

There is one more bath whitening trick. Before going to bed, fill a bathtub of hot water, pour 2 bottles of vinegar essence or 200 grams of citric acid into it and leave it overnight, remembering to close the door. The next day, you just have to drain the resulting solution and clean the coating with a sponge or cream.

If the bathtub is so old and neglected that all these tools do not help, there is another option – to install an acrylic liner in it, fill it with acrylic or enamel, and your bathtub will shine like new.

Acrylic bathtubs may not require maintenance for several years, but gradually dirt can still appear.

If you notice that yellow spots or rust appears all the time for a month, you may need to install water filters.

For acrylic baths, products containing abrasives should never be used. In this case, the structure of the plastic will be disturbed, the bath will become rough, which, in turn, will lead to the fact that pollution will appear quickly enough. Do not use products based on acids, chlorine and alkalis, including the popular vinegar, which can spoil and melt the coating.

It is best if you use a mild bleach recommended by your bath manufacturer. In this case, it will be enough for you to simply wipe the surface of the bath with a cloth moistened with this product.
