- We dry the ground, avoiding stagnation of moisture, we reduce watering.
- We completely change the soil in the pot, at the same time rinse the roots.
- We carry out disinfection of the soil, pouring it with a solution of potassium permanganate of a slightly pink color.
- An effective remedy for flower gnats is wood ash, the use of which additionally serves as a fertilizer.
- A good remedy for pests is a garlic solution, suitable for both watering the plant and for spraying.
- It helps from the larvae by placing cut cloves of garlic or orange peel in a flowerpot.
If, after all the efforts, the result is not followed, you will have to go to a specialty store and choose a means to combat midges. Pests can also differ from each other, and it is important to choose a method that acts on a particular species.
The appearance of flying insects is much easier to prevent than to get rid of them later. First of all, it is necessary to use the soil suitable for the specific type of plant. First, it must be frozen or calcined. The flowerpots in which the planting will be carried out, rinse with potassium permanganate or boiling water.
In order not to think about how to deal with flower midges, you should not reuse soil from other pots. Organic fertilization can attract insects that like dampness and rot. Drainage must be present to ensure good ventilation of the soil.
An important point for preventing the appearance of midges is limited watering. Water should not stagnate, moist soil is the best place to lay insect eggs. If the specificity of the plant requires high humidity, you can compensate for the increased watering by sprinkling the soil in the pot with sand.
Flower midges can appear even if all the rules of plant care are followed. But when taking preventive measures, the risk of infection by the larvae of this pest is significantly reduced.
