How to get children to go to school; whether to force the child to study perfectly

If a student does not feel like learning and school only causes negative emotions in him, this affects both attendance and academic performance. And here it is worth thinking not about how to get children to learn, but about the reasons for such a withdrawal to study. By using a nonviolent approach, you can achieve much better results and not spoil the relationship with the child.

Why there is no desire to learn

Difficulties in understanding and memorizing educational material are associated with problems of memory, attention, lack of development of abstract thinking.

How do you get kids to learn? Find out why your child is not being given a school curriculum.

  • In the lower grades, serious difficulties can arise due to not very good speech. To identify these shortcomings and start working on their elimination, it is necessary to consult a school psychologist.
  • Socio-psychological problems associated with poor social adaptation, conflicts with peers and teachers. These conflicts cause the child to react with rejection, negative emotions and unwillingness to go to school.
  • Lack of interest in learning activities. Lack of intrinsic motivation – passion for knowledge and needs for self-realization – leads to the fact that the student has to make a lot of efforts to overcome his unwillingness to learn. This causes feelings of tiredness, apathy and laziness.

In any case, if you notice a child has serious problems with educational activities and a sharply negative reaction to school, you should contact a school psychologist. He will help not only to deal with the source of problems, but also offer a program for getting out of an unpleasant situation.

How to get your child to do well

Questions like this are often heard from parents, but the word “force” is completely wrong. You cannot force to learn. Most often it leads to the opposite result – the child begins to show stubbornness, and the unloved study causes him even more disgust.

Think not about how to get your child to study at school, but how to make him interested in knowledge.

There are no universal recipes, all children are different, as are their problems. You can give some advice, but not about how to get the child to study at school, but how to captivate the child and arouse his interest in learning.

  1. Find the area that attracts the child’s most attention: history, nature, technology, animals. And focus on it, linking educational material to the interests of the baby.
  2. Form positive motivation, that is, show the student the attractiveness, necessity, importance of knowledge and academic success. Find interesting popular books on the material of the school curriculum, read and discuss them with children.
  3. Do not punish him for poor grades, but sincerely rejoice at any, even minor, success.
  4. Develop your child’s independence. Any voluntarily and independently completed school assignment is a reason for praise. And if it was done with mistakes, then all the edits must be made correctly, patiently explaining to the kid his mistakes, but not scolding him. The acquisition of knowledge should not be associated with negative emotions.

And the main thing. Before you accuse your student of neglect of study, mediocrity and laziness, understand yourself. Who needs excellent grades at the cost of tears, scandals and hours of preparation – a child or you? Are these marks worth his experiences?

Parents decide whether to force the child to learn, but most often they do it without taking into account his interests, and sometimes even opportunities. But it has long been known that learning from under the stick does not bring benefits.
