How to freeze carrots for the winter correctly

For blanks, medium and small vegetables are ideal. They are easy to peel, chop or grate depending on the recipe you want.

So how to freeze carrots for the winter?

  • Circles.

Carrots in the form of circles are useful for making soups, as well as a variety of vegetable stews. Orange rings add warm colors to the dish and saturate the body with vitamin A.

Carrots must be thoroughly cleaned of dirt: dust, earth, clay, etc. You can cope with the task with a brush for washing vegetables and fruits. Peeled root crops are cut off the peel and ends. Now is the time to cut carrots into rings or half rings. As a result, the circles should turn out to be approximately the same size, approximately 3-5 mm thick.

Pour water into a saucepan and put on fire. While boiling, lower the sieve on top and put the carrots for 2-3 minutes, blanch slowly. Then remove the sieve and put it in cold water prepared in advance. After cooling, the vegetables are spread on a kitchen towel or paper napkins until the moisture is completely absorbed. At the end of cooking, the carrot mugs are laid out on a flat surface: a plate, tray, tray and placed in the freezer for a couple of hours. Then the workpiece is transferred to a bag (preferably vacuum), in which the carrots will be stored throughout the winter.

Carrot mugs can be frozen along with other vegetables such as green peas or corn.

  • With straws.

Carrot strips can be prepared raw. This option is suitable for first and second courses, as well as for desserts, such as carrot pie.

Fresh vegetables are peeled and grated on a medium-sized grater. Then the carrots must be wrapped in a plastic bag and folded into the freezer.
