How to clean coconut properly

When buying a coconut at the market or in a store, pay attention to its integrity: it should not have any cracks – this will guarantee that the milk has not flowed out of the fruit and the pulp has not deteriorated. Fresh coconut does not smell like mold, sweetness and rot. The eyes of an intact coconut should not be pressed out.

To split the coconut, you need to find the peephole, which is located closer to the “pole” and pierce it with a sharp object. A knife or scissors will do. Now you can drain the juice or drink it straight from the coconut by inserting a cocktail tube into the hole.

After draining the coconut, place the fruit in a bag or wrap it in a towel and place it on a cutting board. Take a hammer and gently tap the coconut on all sides so that cracks appear. Chop the coconut and cut the flesh with a knife.

The cut coconut is stored in the refrigerator for a day. Coconut pulp can be eaten raw, dried, added to baked goods, or made into chips or flakes.
