How to speed up metabolism and give the body a boost to lose weight, experts say.

Detox is a healing fast, a quick way to cleanse the digestive system of harmful toxins. At the same time, unlike a diet, the body does not stay for a long time without the usual food and does not feel the psychological stress – the duration of the detox is no more than a day a week or a couple of days a month. Of course, it will not help you lose 10 extra pounds, but it will give an impetus to a healthy lifestyle.

Diet inhibits metabolism, but detox does not

Standard long-term diets are based on giving up not only the next piece of cake, but also from fats, many of which are healthy. The structure and schedule of any diet is inhumanly strict: after six do not eat, flour and sweets are not allowed, a sort of “get away from the refrigerator before you get lost.” Such restrictions lead to fatal changes in metabolism – the body begins to grab onto each calorie, carefully depositing it in the stomach and sides. As a result of diets, weight, of course, decreases, but not for long – after a breakdown, he returns in the company of a couple of new kilos.

But detox does not have time to slow down the metabolism: the body and psyche are not oppressed by the constant restriction in food. The digestive system does not take emergency measures, which as a result force people to eat more.

Do not eat but drink

The body, even during detox, must receive nutrients, albeit in limited quantities. The most convenient format is fruit and vegetable smoothies and juices. Do not be intimidated by the drinking diet – the starter program for beginners does not last longer than one or two days a month.

The relative ease of the juice detoxification procedure allows you to lead a familiar lifestyle – you can take them with you to work or rest, they will calmly survive half a day in your purse.

A pleasant bonus – each subsequent detoxification is easier and more effective, and fruit smoothies with almond or soy milk are as good as your favorite desserts.

Detox should not be performed for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract – ulcers, gastritis, dyskinesia. In addition, it is not worth increasing the rate on the wave of the first success – this is the sin of beginners. They feel light in their bodies and actually put themselves on a diet, only very tough – endless preparations for detox, detox and exit, and all over again. You can’t do that! The standard detox regimen for the “advanced” is once a week or three days (not in a row) once a month.

– Before starting a detox, I recommend getting tested. It is necessary to do general blood tests and an ultrasound of the abdominal cavity. The detox procedure is contraindicated for people with gallstones if their size is from half a centimeter to a centimeter. Also, severe consequences can be in people with problems with the pancreas or exacerbation of an ulcer. In all other cases, mild juice detoxification has practically no contraindications.

“Detoxification with freshly squeezed juices allows the body to take a break from heavy food,” continues Artem Khachatryan. – However, all juices should be selected according to their effects, for example, promoting the outflow of bile and the restoration of the cellular structure of the liver. I recommend thinking about detox if you are not feeling very healthy: frequent fatigue, pain in the joints, in the left and right hypochondrium, in the intestines, and also with a rapid heartbeat. If you approach the detoxification procedure wisely and cleanse the liver and intestines, then all other organs, including the blood, will be cleansed on their own.

– Detox is not only curative fasting, but a whole system that includes walks in the fresh air and healthy sleep. The most popular and easy-to-eat programs are based on fresh juices, smoothies, steamed or raw vegetables. It is necessary to prepare for the procedure, gradually abandoning harmful products.

The time it takes to prepare for and exit the detox depends on the duration of the detox. If the detox lasts one day, then it means one day of entry and one day of exit. Replace white bread with whole grain, gluten cereals (oat, rice, semolina, pearl barley) for gluten-free. Gluten forms mucus in the body, which negatively affects health, and if the goal is to cleanse the body, then it is better to get rid of all that is superfluous in advance. Tea and coffee consumption is minimized. Coffee and tea contain toxins that are best avoided during detox. By the way, after exiting the detox, it is forbidden to eat sugar, cereals, foods containing yeast, bread and drink alcohol. Accordingly, if the detox lasted for a day, then it is enough to maintain such a diet for one day.

If you feel hungry all the time, add another vegetable meal; they can be eaten even at night, so as not to go to bed on an empty stomach, – continues Natalya Marakhovskaya.

If you’ve recently gotten involved in detox, do not plan on these days of great physical activity – a weekend or vacation is ideal to minimize the external stress from work: the body is already uneasy.
