Features of fishing in Mordovia

The location of the region explains the relief features of the bottom near rivers and lakes. In the water bodies of Mordovia, there are practically no sharp drops, deep holes, and rifts. Rivers and lakes are characterized by gently sloping banks and the same bottom, mostly sandstones. Many water bodies are characterized by cloudy water immediately after precipitation, which makes it difficult to fish. Over time, the turbidity will settle and the inhabitants of the fish will become significantly more active.

Shallow depths and relatively clear water are characteristic of rivers and lakes, which, according to experienced anglers, is the main reason for the absence of trophy catfish in the region.

Fishing is carried out both in natural reservoirs and in artificial ones. Many lakes and ponds have been leased for many years, this business is booming. Many bases offer paid fishing services, and even from neighboring regions come here to enjoy themselves.

Recently, payers have been very popular; in Mordovia, many types of fish are bred for this purpose. Carp farms are considered the most common, but trout and crucian carp can also be caught.

Many go to the region for family vacations; renting a house at a fishing base is not difficult. The fisherman will be able to take his soul on the shore, and his relatives will be able to admire the local nature, breathe fresh air. Each base has its own prices and additional entertainment for vacationers.

Free places

You can fish for free on all rivers of Mordovia and on most lakes. Capture takes place here all year round, but there are certain seasonal prohibitions. Civilization did not get close to these places, so there are enough fish in each reservoir, large specimens often come across.

Popular places

There are several places in the region that are popular not only with local fishermen. Basically, these are floodplain lakes, which were formed after the flood of rivers. Naturally, the fauna in them will be identical.

Became well-known:

  • Inerka or Great Lake;
  • Shelubey;
  • Imerka;
  • Piyavskoye;
  • Mordovian.

Great depths cannot be found here, and all types of fish are thermophilic.

Surah

The river is considered one of the largest in the region, fishing is carried out on the banks throughout the region, but anglers will achieve the greatest success:

  • at the confluence of the Sura with the Medianka duct;
  • in the vicinity of the city of Bolshiye Berezniki;
  • near the villages of Nikolaevka and Tiyapino;
  • predator lovers should go to Kozlovka and Ivankovka;
  • Yarilkin backwater will please everyone.

Fishing is carried out with different types of gear, the most common is spinning fishing, but with bottom and float gear, good success can be achieved. As bait, both plant variants and animals are used. It is desirable to lure fishing spots, it has been tested by experienced anglers, the number of bites increases significantly in this case.

Moksha

Moksha differs from Sura significantly, the depths here are more serious, and fishing requires not only luck, but also certain skills. Sandy spits and whirlpools, rifts and shallow reaches will allow, with the appropriate gear, truly trophy specimens to be mined.

Often in the summer and until autumn, photos with trophies caught specifically on Moksha appear on the Internet.

The banks of the river near any settlement or far from it are suitable for capture, but the greatest success can usually be achieved:

  • near Temnikov, Moksha here makes a sharp turn of 90 degrees, and then splits into several branches, which serve as excellent places for catching various types of fish;
  • the banks of Moksha near Kabanovo are never empty;
  • the confluence of Moksha and Issa form the so-called Mordovian Poshaty, famous for a large number of trophy pike.

With a float rod, it will be possible to perch in the above places, or you can look for a quieter and more comfortable place.

Summer fishing

In the summer, fishing is carried out on different baits and baits, it all depends on the gear used:

  • the capture of a predator on spinning is carried out by jig baits with twisters and reapers, oscillating baubles and turntables work well. Wobblers will attract the attention of pike in the spring and autumn, but in the summer it will practically not react to them.
  • peaceful fish are caught on tackle with feeders; as a bait, a worm, maggot, and bloodworm will show themselves perfectly.

Vegetable options are also used, but they will work worse.

Winter fishing

By freeze-up, fishing is carried out on mormyshkas, baubles and balancers. Burbot and pike are caught in open water on baits and baits equipped with live bait from the same reservoir. As a bait in the winter season, a bloodworm is suitable, sometimes a worm will be great to attract attention.

Fishing in Mordovia is suitable for both beginners and professionals. Here everyone will learn something new for themselves, or, on the contrary, share their experience in catching a particular type of fish.
