Electronic sick leave

On December 14, 2020, Order No. 925n of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation dated September 1, 2020 on the procedure for issuing sick leave certificates came into force. This resolution provides for the possibility (with the written consent of the patient) to issue a certificate of incapacity for work electronically.

A pilot project for issuing “digital sick leave” has been carried out in selected regions since 2017. The standard paper form of a certificate of incapacity for work was last edited in 2011.

Why was electronic sick leave introduced?

  • Simplification of interaction between the medical organization, the employer, the sick employee and the Social Insurance Fund;
  • Reduce the turnover of paper documents;
  • Increase control over the issuance of sick leave.

A doctor can issue an electronic sick leave (with the patient’s written consent) under the following conditions:

  • The employee’s employer registered on the official departmental website of the Social Insurance Fund and opened a personal account there.
  • The medical institution connected to a special information system for issuing electronic certificates of incapacity for work.
  • The patient completed and signed consent to issue a digital document.
  • At the initial appointment, the patient presented his SNILS number when applying for a sick leave certificate.

    • An electronic certificate of incapacity for work is issued for medical reasons upon PERSONAL contact at the Prima Medica clinic.
    • The patient, in addition to his passport, signed consent to issue an electronic sick leave, presents SNILS (or a scanned copy of his SNILS)
    • The doctor issues an electronic sick leave in the information system (Sotsstrakh) with a unique number assigned and communicates this number to the patient. The patient independently provides the number to the employer

    Extension/closure of electronic sick leave at the Prima Medica clinic

    To extend or close a “digital” sick leave, a visit to a doctor at the clinic is not necessary. The patient can extend or close the electronic sick leave using the online telemedicine consultation service. To do this, you can use the appointment form on our website or through a call center operator. At the appointed time, after a remote consultation, the doctor will extend (if there are medical indications) or close the electronic sick leave through the information system. Within three working days, the patient will receive a generated document by email confirming the closure of the digital sick leave.

    All information about electronic sick leave certificates is transmitted through special secure channels, which are considered inaccessible to prying eyes or data correction by unauthorized persons.
