Black grape varieties: photo, description

Unlike white and pink grapes, black grapes are planted in regions with developed industrial winemaking. But at your summer cottage, you can also grow some varieties of black grapes. It contains a lot of nutrients, so fresh and frozen grape berries are very useful for blood vessels, immunity, vision.

Early-medium black grapes

In the photo, the black grape varieties look almost the same: they have a thick blueberry color and rounded berries. Fruit sizes vary from small to large.

Popular black grapes ripen from August to October

In terms of ripening, early, middle and late grape bushes are distinguished. The most famous among the August-September varieties are:

  • Black Delight is a table variety with a pleasant sweetish taste. The pulp is dense, fleshy. Fruits are bluish-black, large, adhere firmly to the cone-shaped brush. The plant bears abundant and constantly bears fruit from the second year of planting;
  • “Kishmish” pleases with oval black grapes of medium size without seeds. It has a pleasant, moderately sweet flesh. It does not promise a large harvest, but it ripens steadily. Does not tolerate frost;
  • “Black Pearl” – wine grapes with a bunch of medium size, up to 400 g, cone-shaped. Oval fruits are moderately sweet, pleasant on the palate, slightly nutmeg. Morozov is not afraid, bears fruit well;
  • “Black Prince” with careful care gives a huge 1,5-kilogram bunches. Rounded 12-gram berries are large, black, very sweet. The grapes give a bountiful harvest and are not afraid of the cold.

The pulp of early grapes is dense, depending on the variety, taste and sweetness change. Muscat table varieties have a softer aroma, they are more often used in winemaking.

From the end of September, it is possible to harvest ripe, medium-late black grapes. In the photo for the description of the variety, you can see the berries of a rather large size. Some shrub fruits have a 160-day development period, and therefore have time to grow up to 2 cm.

The following varieties are popular in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus:

  • “Black finger” ripens in 125 days, gives very sweet and large 12-gram berries with a characteristic finger shape. The weight of a ripe bunch reaches 1 kg, under favorable weather conditions – 2 kg. It tolerates frost perfectly, bears fruit stably;
  • “Autumn Black” – this is a table variety, gives large 10-gram conical berries of violet-black color. The pulp is moderately sweet, tasty, with a pleasant sourness. The weight of the bunch does not exceed 800 g. It bears fruit abundantly and regularly;
  • “Odessa Black” is a popular wine-making variety. The bunch is small, weighing up to 200 g. The berries are round or oval, rather small, tasty, moderately sweet, with a distinct cherry aftertaste;
  • “Original” gives loose, rather heavy bunches weighing up to 700 g. Berries are large, neutral in taste, but with sourness. The yield is low.

Other mid-late varieties include Festivalny Muscat, Livadiyskiy Black, Tsymlyanskiy Black, and Moldavskiy Black. Many ripen only in October.

Black grape varieties are less sweet than pink and whites. But they make excellent wines, and fresh berries are very healthy.
