Itchy scalp: why is it itchy?

Anyway, to relieve itching, you need to use products that are suitable for your scalp.

While itchy scalp can come from internal causes, one should also be wary of external causes. For example, wearing hats or beanies too regularly can damage the scalp, as can too tight hairstyles. Shampoos that are too aggressive or applied too often can also cause itching. To take care of your scalp, you must adopt good habits: do not wash your hair more than twice a week, and brush it every evening to remove dust and pollution residues that can stagnate at the roots.

Choosing your shampoo against itchy scalp

To choose your anti-itch shampoo, you must choose a purifying shampoo, suitable for your scalp: dry or oily. If the itching is very severe and you have extensive plaques, do not hesitate to consult a dermatologist who can help you and refer you to the appropriate anti-itch shampoo.

First of all, choose a mild and mild shampoo, without sulphates and silicones. You can find it in drugstores, or opt for natural brands. Choose an anti-dandruff shampoo containing anti-irritant ingredients like Zinc Gluconate, Zanthalene, or Licochalcone. These agents will calm itching and irritation quickly.

Once the scalp is soothed and cleansed, it must also be moisturized to prevent new dandruff from forming. Thus, it will be necessary to bet on a shampoo against the itching of the scalp comprising ingredients such as urea or glycerin, which will make it possible to renew the hydrolipidic film of the scalp.

Create your natural anti-itch shampoo

To create your shampoo against itchy scalp, use a neutral washing base. Add chamomile and lavender essential oil, which have soothing properties, eucalyptus to immediately calm irritation, and tea tree to cleanse the scalp. Pour your shampoo into a bowl or the palm of your hand and add 2 drops of each essential oil. Easy, fast, efficient and natural!

For those days when you don’t have time to make this mixture, you can use another natural trick: bet on organic apple cider vinegar! You can mix it with water in a spray and apply it after you shower, or just pour it into a three-quarters full water bottle to rinse your hair with. Apple cider vinegar will cleanse the scalp and tighten its pores, as well as the scales of the hair, for a healthier scalp and hair.

Be careful, a suitable shampoo is necessary but the application of shampoo is also very important. Apply a dab of anti-itch shampoo to the roots, then stretch gently to the lengths. Then, gently massage your scalp with your fingertips, then exert a few small pressures with the palms of your hands. This massage will relieve your itching faster, and above all, avoid irritating the scalp by rubbing too hard.
