Agree, a common situation is when you want to eat only one slice of cake or pizza, and then, having come to your senses, you see that you have eaten many times more than what was allowed. It turns out that the whole point here is not so much in willpower, but in the fact that some products are really very, very difficult to resist.

Scientists from the University of Colorado undertook research into the problem of such products that cause almost drug addiction. After examining 35 foods, experts named the 10 most dangerous addictive food options. As it turns out, highly processed foods are the most addictive in humans.

Here are the ten: 

  • Pizza
  • Chocolate
  • Chips
  • Biscuit
  • Buns
  • Ice cream
  • Cheeseburgers
  • Sugary sodas (non-dietary)
  • Cakes 
  • Cheese (the only unprocessed food on this list). 

As you can see, the results are disappointing, because most of these foods contain a large amount of fat or sugar, and therefore quickly increase blood sugar levels. 

Observing the eating behavior in relation to these unfortunate foods, the researchers noted that they are all quickly absorbed, causing only a short-term feeling of fullness. 

 

And at the opposite end of the rating were products, the use of which, on the contrary, does not cause food addiction. These include cucumbers, carrots, beans (no sauce), apples, brown rice, broccoli, bananas, salmon, corn (no oil and salt), and strawberries. It is they who need to be given priority, despite the almost narcotic appeal of products from a dangerous dozen. 

According to experts, the results obtained are not just information to note, they can help change the approach to the treatment of obesity.
