PSYchology

Zinchenko, Vladimir Petrovich (born August 10, 1931, Kharkov) is a Russian psychologist. One of the founders of engineering psychology in Russia. Representative of a family dynasty of famous psychologists (father — Pyotr Ivanovich Zinchenko, sister — Tatyana Petrovna Zinchenko). Actively develops the ideas of cultural-historical psychology.

Biography

Graduated from the Department of Psychology of Moscow State University (1953). PhD in Psychology (1957). Doctor of Psychology (1967), Professor (1968), Academician of the Russian Academy of Education (1992), Vice-President of the Society of Psychologists of the USSR (1968-1983), Deputy Chairman of the Center for Human Sciences at the Presidium of the USSR Academy of Sciences (since 1989), Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (1989). Professor of the Samara State Pedagogical University. Member of the editorial board of the scientific journal «Questions of Psychology».

Pedagogical work at Moscow State University (1960-1982). Organizer and first head of the Department of Labor Psychology and Engineering Psychology (since 1970). Head of the Ergonomics Department of the All-Russian Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the USSR (1969-1984). Head of the Department of Ergonomics at the Moscow Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation (since 1984), professor at the Samara State Pedagogical University. Under his leadership, 50 Ph.D. theses were defended. Many of his students became doctors of science.

The area of ​​scientific research is the theory, history and methodology of psychology, developmental psychology, child psychology, experimental cognitive psychology, engineering psychology and ergonomics.

Scientific activity

Experimentally investigated the processes of visual image formation, recognition and identification of image elements and informational preparation of decisions. He presented a version of the functional model of visual short-term memory, a model of the mechanisms of visual thinking as a component of creative activity. Developed a functional model of the structure of the objective action of a person. He developed the doctrine of consciousness as a functional organ of the individual. His works have made a significant contribution to the humanization of the labor sphere, especially in the field of information and computer technologies, as well as to the humanization of the education system.

V.P. Zinchenko is the author of about 400 scientific publications, over 100 of his works have been published abroad, including 12 monographs in English, German, Spanish, Japanese and other languages.
