On April 12, the country’s main cat-lover, creator and permanent artistic director of the Cat Theater turns 70 years old. On the eve of the anniversary, Yuri Dmitrievich shared with “Antenna” observations about how these animals are similar and not like you and me.

– Cats are honest and most loyal animals. People need to learn from them loyalty. If the cat falls in love, then for life. She will be taken thousands of kilometers away, but she will come anyway, hug this person and say: “I have come to you.”
In cats, you do not need to look for external similarities with people. Appearance is a temporary thing, but the inner mood is very important. The cat is very concentrated and attentive. She feels a person, his biofield. He will come, if something hurts, he will begin to release claws and do acupuncture. In this respect, cats, of course, have a great advantage over other animals. No matter how you throw it, it falls on its paws, because it has a tail like a propeller. She twists and regulates her fall right in the air. No animal can do that, and a cat can easily.
I have heard a lot that cats copy the character of the owner, but this is not so: they adapt to their loved one, but dogs simply repeat. If the owner is limping, you look, in a month the dog is limping too. And if the owner is puffed up, then the dog also proudly performs. Cats are more modest, in themselves, more intelligent and do not like to express emotions. They behave with restraint – this is their advantage over other animals.
But the cat very well feels the person – his smell, hearing, biofield, timbre of voice. He said somewhere – they are already turning. My Arrow, according to my mother, was already running to the door as soon as I entered the entrance and spoke to someone. Cats have a special hearing.
We keep all our cats at home, where we ourselves live. We also built a nursing home for them. The animal no longer works with you, it’s old, but let it be there anyway – in front of your eyes. Come pet. The cat eats a lot, but retains its art form. You take her in your arms, and there are only bones. The body no longer perceives vitamins, as in humans. Therefore, it is necessary that there was supervision.
I’m holding on too. I have a special year – one hundred years of the national circus (recall that Kuklachev is also a circus performer, carpet clown. – Approx. “Antenna”), 50 years of my creative activity and 70 years of looking at the sun, listening to birds. All actors and singers of my age, telling your magazine about the secrets of youth and beauty, admit to diets and sports, and, of course, cats feed and preserve me, I get a lot of love from them.
But I can’t do without standard methods either. In terms of diet, I try not to mix different proteins – I eat separately, I try not to eat sweets so that there is less sugar. I also practice Buteyko breathing (a set of exercises developed by a Soviet scientist for the treatment of bronchial asthma. – Approx. “Antenna”). Sometimes I get up in the morning and feel that I live only thanks to Buteyko, because there is almost no breathing.
I feed the cats with turkey. This is a diet food. Chickens are injected with vitamins, antibiotics, and they take turkey well. Our cats live for 20 – 25 years (while cats in apartments live on average from 12 to 15 years. – Approx. “Antenna”). 14 years old is a young girl, a schoolgirl. We have a unique veterinarian, we give them vitamins. We take blood. We know that one cat has a predisposition to urolithiasis, so you can’t eat raw. She needs special food, which is three times more expensive, but she is talented, so the costs are higher than for people. We have a diet plan for each cat.

Every year you realize that life is getting shorter and shorter. I’m not very happy with what’s ahead, that I’m getting older and older. I will celebrate my anniversary very simply. I decided to hold the Dobroty festival every year. We collect children from orphanages, low-income families and large families, and arrange for them a free show and give gifts. I don’t like it when someone gives me something, and I decided to give it myself.
When someone gives me something, I feel ashamed, embarrassed, and even often give something that I don’t want. I buy what I want myself. And now they often give something that lies at home and gets in the way. It is sad. For children, I will give my books, CDs, videos, dolls (these dolls are in my museum). And I give love to my cats on their anniversaries. It is most important. They don’t need anything else. They need a good, kind, sympathetic attitude. They also have a whole structure to climb, a wheel to run in, little toys to play with – so it’s fun. There are many cats in the house, but only two people – my wife Elena and I. The house is big, but the children live separately. They have their own families, children, grandchildren. That’s better. I realized that I needed to rest.
The house has three floors, each child has a floor (the Kuklachevs have two sons – 43-year-old Dmitry and 35-year-old Vladimir, both artists of his theater, as well as 38-year-old daughter Ekaterina, theater artist. – Approx. “Antenna”). They come sometimes – once every three years. While the grandchildren were small, they came more often. We still live in the forest, albeit in Moscow. There we have a lot of strawberries, there are a lot of mushrooms, below the Moscow River. We have been living there for a long time. Earlier it was worth a penny, not like now. I had to get my bearings. We did it. We took what we liked. Now we go to the park, forest, to visit. We don’t release cats. They run in our yard. There they have special grass, they climb trees – they have complete freedom.
Our cats are Sprat, Tulka, Arrow, Squirrel, Cat Pate, Cat Radish, snow cat Behemoth, Entrecote, Sausage, Shoelace, Tyson – a fighter who fights with everyone. If anything, I say: “I will call Tyson – he will deal with you.” Another cat Potato, cat Watermelon – loves watermelons, eats already champs. Banana cat eats bananas with pleasure. Radish the cat grabs a radish and plays with it like a mouse. Carrot does the same. But most of all we are surprised by Potato – he takes a raw potato and gnaws at it like an apple. There is also Gavrosh, Belok, Chubais, Zhuzha, Chucha, Bantik, Fantik, Tarzan – climbs like Tarzan, the Goat cat – jumps like a goat, Boris the cat, Yogurt cat. The tube skydiver loves to jump down from the fifth floor. It happened in winter. It was presented to me in the same house. They asked to take it. Otherwise he will break with them. He reached for the bird and fell, but it was winter and he fell into the snow. Walked all night, liked it, returned to eat – and walk again. We won’t let him in, but he jumped out the window. Then the snow melted, we had to hang the net so that it would not break – we are afraid for his life, he thinks that there is snow.
And I have the same habits with cats – good. For example, every morning I get up with a smile: I woke up and I am glad that I am still living – what happiness. Falling asleep, I think that I should rest, and I relax. Cats have a good habit: as soon as they hear music, they already want to work. They run, jump, have fun – and we are with them.
