Description of the peculiarities of cultivation of the “Penguin” raspberry variety

Raspberry “Penguin” is a light-loving plant. To plant it, you need to choose a well-lit place on the southern side of the site, which is protected from strong winds. The culture prefers fertile soils with low acidity levels. The ideal option is black earth or loamy soil.

Raspberries are planted in early spring or autumn before the onset of cold weather. It is necessary to fertilize the soil in advance. Humus or rotted manure is suitable; wood ash is added to reduce acidity levels. Plants are planted at a distance of at least 70 cm from each other, between rows – 1,5-2 m.

During dry periods, raspberries need to be watered regularly. At the same time, it is important to prevent excessive waterlogging of the soil.

After watering and loosening the soil, it can be mulched with mown and dried grass.

After the raspberries fully bear fruit, the bushes are trimmed. All shoots of the current year are cut to the soil level. You can cut the shoots not completely, leave them at a level of 1 m above the ground. In this case, the next year, raspberries will give 2 harvests.

Experienced gardeners still recommend cutting the shoots completely, so you can get better quality berries.

Raspberry “Penguin” will become a worthy decoration of the garden and will allow you to enjoy delicious berries until the coldest days. This variety is perfect for beginner gardeners, since it does not require complex maintenance.
