Why is it necessary to send the child to the ballet

A famous choreographer, art director of various dance projects in Russia and European countries, as well as the founder of a network of ballet schools for children and adults, Nikita Dmitrievsky told Woman’s Day about the benefits of ballet for children and adults.

– Every child from the age of three, in my opinion, should do gymnastics. And from the age of six to seven, when you already have basic skills, you can instill in the sport to which he is predisposed. The main thing is that it was not the baby’s mother who wanted to do it, realizing her unfulfilled dreams, but he himself.

As for ballet, this is not only an external work, but also an internal one. This discipline develops not only a beautiful posture and gait, but also grace and character. As such, ballet has no contraindications. On the contrary, it is useful to everyone. All exercises are based on stretching the body, muscles, joints, as a result of which it is possible to correct the curvature of the spine, flat feet, and other diseases.

There are many ballet schools in Moscow now, but not all of them deserve attention. I advise parents to pay attention to the teaching staff. The child should not be dealt with by amateurs, but by professionals. Otherwise, you can get injured and permanently discourage a boy or girl from dancing.

It is quite difficult to deal with young children. You must always keep their attention, conduct lessons in the form of a game, try to pay individual attention to everyone. The main task of the teacher is to involve the child in the process, and then lead him, passing on his knowledge.

Moreover, it is not at all necessary that all children who attend ballet lessons eventually become artists of the Bolshoi Theater. Even if they then do not study professionally, the classes will be very useful for them. This will have an elementary effect on their appearance. A beautiful posture, as they say, cannot be hidden!

What a future ballet dancer needs to know

If a child decides to become an artist of a big stage, then you need to warn him in advance that he will not have a childhood as such. You need to fully devote yourself to training. If we compare two groups of children, some of whom are engaged for the sake of interest, and the other professionally, then these are two different approaches. I can say this for myself. Although I am not complaining, I have always liked to develop in the direction I have chosen.

Moreover, in addition to ballet, I also had acrobatics and modern dances. That is, there was almost no free time left: every day from 10:00 to 19:00 I studied at the ballet academy, from 19:00 to 20:00 I had acrobatics, and from 20:00 to 22:00 – modern dances.

The stories that ballet dancers always have calluses on their feet are not entirely true. I have seen photographs of ballerinas’ bloody feet walking on the net – yes, this is true, but it is rare. Apparently, the editors collected the most horrifying photos and posted them on the network under the heading “Everyday life of ballet dancers.” No, our everyday life is not quite like that. Of course, you have to work a lot, injuries happen often, but mostly they occur due to inattention and fatigue. If you give your muscles rest, then everything will be fine.

Some people are also sure that ballet dancers do not eat anything or are on strict diets. This is absolutely not true! We eat everything and do not limit ourselves to anything. Of course, we don’t eat enough before training or concerts, otherwise it’s hard to dance.

There are many myths about certain proportions of ballet dancers. If you don’t come out tall, for example, then you won’t be a professional. I can say that growth doesn’t really matter. Girls and boys up to 180 cm are accepted into ballet. It’s just that the taller the person, the harder it is to control your body. Although tall dancers look more aesthetically pleasing on stage. It is a fact.

There is an opinion that every woman sees herself as a ballerina, so many want to realize their childhood dream at a conscious age. It’s good that now body ballet has become quite popular in Russia. Girls often prefer it to fitness training. And it is right. Ballet is a long work that can work out all the muscles and bring the body to perfection, give flexibility and lightness.

By the way, in America, not only women under 45, like ours, but also grandparents over 80 go to ballet classes! They are sure that this prolongs their youth. And, probably, it is so.
