Which microwaves are better

A microwave oven is a small, but not replaceable helper in the kitchen, capable of making life easier and significantly speeding up food preparation. How to choose a good microwave oven that will help not only defrost and reheat, but also bake, stew and even fry until golden brown? We will show you which microwaves are worth buying and what you should look for when buying.

The best microwave oven can easily replace both the stove and the oven

The best microwave oven: one appliance, many functions

A good microwave oven can not only reheat or defrost food: models with a grill function allow you to roast meat, fish or potatoes, and ovens with convection mode can even bake pies! Therefore, if you are looking for an oven with the widest possible range of functions, choose models with grill and convection modes and a power of at least 900 watts.

The function of a grill in a microwave oven is performed by infrared emitters: these can be heating elements or quartz lamps. The latter do not take up the volume of the internal space, but are heated even faster to the operating temperature. Choose those microwave ovens in which quartz emitters are located both at the bottom and at the top of the chamber, since in this case the food is fried as quickly and evenly as possible.

Pay attention to the volume of the cooking chamber: models with a volume of less than 20 liters are only suitable for heating small portions.

The best microwave – with a ceramic coating and a large volume of the working chamber

Which microwaves are better? Choosing an inner coating

The inner covering of the microwave oven working chamber is something that you should definitely pay attention to when buying. Inexpensive models usually have an enamel coating: it is quite easy to clean, but not designed for heating to high temperatures. In addition, the enamel is not resistant to mechanical damage; over time, scratches and abrasions form on it.

Stainless steel has a large margin of safety, but it is more difficult to clean it: in order to remove grease and carbon deposits, you will have to use special products. Ceramic is considered the best material for a working chamber – such a coating is highly durable and easy to clean.

To summarize, a good microwave is an oven with:

  • grill function provided by quartz radiators at the bottom and top of the chamber,

  • convection mode that allows you to heat food up to 250 degrees;

  • ceramic coating of the working chamber;

  • internal volume of at least 20 liters;

  • with a power of at least 900 watts.

Do not forget to pay attention to the details: a too short cord will create inconvenience when placing the oven, a heavily tinted door will not allow you to assess the degree of readiness of the dish, and too loud a signal can disturb those whose household likes to reheat food late at night.
