Which is better, poplin or satin fabric for bedding: characteristics, reviews

Poplin has good wear resistance properties. It is used to make bed linen, as well as casual clothes: blouses, dresses, T-shirts and T-shirts. What is this poplin fabric? Should I choose it for bedding?

Poplin fabric is durable, therefore suitable for bedding

The fabric is made by weaving. Two threads, different in thickness, are taken as a basis, one is thin, and the second is twice as thick. This creates a ribbed relief. The fabric is 100% cotton and contains no synthetic components. Due to this composition and weaving method, it has the following characteristics:

  • dense, but not coarse (density is 115 ± 7 g / m²);
  • does not crumple;
  • does not roll;
  • keeps its original shape for a long time due to weaving;
  • allows air and moisture to pass through;
  • does not cause allergies;
  • does not fade even at 60 ° C;
  • not electrified.

Poplin is cheap. Differs in durability and wear resistance.

In reviews of poplin for bedding, they say that the fabric does not fade and does not stretch after washing, it is soft, despite its embossed structure, and it is pleasant to sleep on it.

Some poplin manufacturers use synthetic additives such as silk or wool. In this case, the canvas differs in its properties. Therefore, when buying poplin products, you need to carefully read the composition.

Poplin fabric for bedding

The material is similar in characteristics to calico, it is durable. Poplin is suitable for bed linen, as it does not lose its shape and color with regular washing in a typewriter. If you choose between this material and satin, then it is worth considering that they are absolutely the same in composition. They differ only in the way of weaving. The production technology of satin is complex, the fabric is shiny with a shimmer. It looks like silk, but has all the properties of cotton.

The advantages of satin over poplin:

  1. Softer.
  2. More pleasant to the body.
  3. Easier.
  4. More beautiful to look at.
  5. Has bright colors.

Satin is much more expensive than poplin. But in terms of wear resistance, it loses to all cotton fabrics. It is necessary to decide which fabric is better – satin or poplin, based on personal preference.

When choosing a material for bed linen, you need to pay attention to the description and manufacturer, you can purchase synthetics instead of cotton. Natural fabric has a soft texture and keeps you warm. Thanks to the plain weaving method, poplin keeps its shape for a long time and does not lose to expensive canvases.
