What to eat with heartburn
 

For some, heartburn is a constant companion, and for someone it is an unexpected symptom. A burning sensation, an unpleasant taste in the mouth, an urge to nausea – all this can be avoided by adjusting your diet.

Most often, heartburn occurs in those people who are prone to increased acidity of their stomachs. Unpleasant sensations do not appear immediately, but 30 minutes after eating. This condition is called reflux – the release of saline from the stomach. It gets on the walls of the esophagus from the stomach and causes irritation. During normal functioning of the body, the muscle ring prevents gastric juice from leaving the stomach.

If heartburn occurs constantly, but it makes sense to consult a doctor. After all, heartburn can be just a symptom of a serious illness – gastritis, ulcers and disorders of other human organs.

 

There are general rules by which you can reduce or completely avoid heartburn. The basis of food should be vegetables, fruits, sweet berries, with the exception of tomatoes and citrus fruits. Be sure to have cereals on the menu – wheat, rolled oats, rice and buckwheat.

Only pasta made from durum wheat can be eaten. It is good to eat low-fat cottage cheese and unfermented cheeses. The diet must necessarily contain lean meats and fish, eggs, whole grain yesterday’s bread. Season the dishes with vegetable oils – olive, pumpkin, sunflower.

From drinks, tea with milk, herbal teas, fruit drinks and decoctions, juices, non-carbonated mineral water will be useful.

All meals should be broken down into a large number of meals, preferably without skipping every 2-3 hours.

After eating, you should not lie down or sit – it is better to take a short walk.

What not to eat with heartburn?

Avoid foods that increase the acidity of the stomach – spicy and salty foods, pickles, tomatoes, citrus fruits, fatty dairy products and fermented cheeses.

You should also exclude foods and habits that irritate the stomach lining. These are alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, chocolate, onions, radishes, garlic, mushrooms. Also avoid baked goods made from rye flour and yeast, legumes, and carbonated drinks.

It should be remembered that mint relaxes the muscles of the ring in the esophagus, which means there is a risk of heartburn. Avoid foods with this seasoning and flavor.
