What does a New York restaurant do with guests’ phones

Eleven Madison Park, a modern American restaurant in New York City, is known for its fairly strict rules. So, in the institution there is no Wi-Fi, television, smoking and dancing are prohibited. Dress code entry, parking only for cars, not for bicycles.

As explained in Eleven Madison Park, these rules are in order not to interfere with their guests to focus on the unique taste.

It should be noted that the taste and serving of the dishes in the establishment are really at a high level. The restaurant has three Michelin stars and was ranked number one in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants last year.

However, not all guests were enthusiastic about the new rule of the restaurant. The fact is that in Eleven Madison Park, it was decided to place beautiful wooden boxes on the tables, in which guests could hide their mobile phones during a meal, so as not to be distracted from food and communication.

The move aims to encourage guests to spend time with each other, rather than their phones, and appreciate the present, according to Chef Daniel Hamm.

This initiative is voluntary and not mandatory. While many visitors were enthusiastic about the move, some noted that the move away from using their phones at the table deprives them of the opportunity to immortalize food for Instagram.
