Everything you need to know about the summer heat

Humans are genetically adapted to average temperatures around 25⁰С. Record thermometer readings in our regions break the laws of nature, and such jokes, as you know, do not go unnoticed for health.

In the summer, cardiologists note frequent complaints of patients about the work of the heart. You will not envy the inhabitants of the metropolis: high air temperature, hot asphalt and exhaust gases aggravate the situation. Chronic oxygen deficiency worsens general well-being, leads to the development or exacerbation of cardiovascular diseases, and increases weather sensitivity. In a special risk group are the elderly, children, pregnant women.

When the thermometer reaches 30⁰С, sweating increases by an average of 5 times. Similarly, a person sweats while playing sports or doing physical work. If fluid loss is not replenished in a timely manner, it is easy to get shortness of breath, problems with blood pressure, or swelling. In addition, with sweat a person loses useful substances that are essential for muscles: potassium, magnesium and sodium.

Especially hot days are usually accompanied by drowsiness, irritability and mood swings. Instead of enjoying the bright sun and lush greenery, people complain about a bad mood, difficulty falling asleep and apathy. There is nothing surprising in this state of affairs – this is a natural reaction of the body to stress. It is not sweet for hypotensive patients (people suffering from low blood pressure). In hot weather, blood pressure naturally drops, reducing any desire to be active.

Carefully applied morning make-up by the evening can remain only in memories. The skin becomes oily due to the active work of the sebaceous glands. Beauticians do not advise masking this flaw with powder: the pores should breathe, and not be clogged with layers of cosmetics. It is better to opt for matting wipes for the face or natural summer creams (their formula includes components that control the activity of the sebaceous glands). In the morning and evening, carry out home SPA treatments – for example, use ice cubes based on herbs and essential oils – the skin will respond with gratitude.

In general, during the summer heat, not everything is so gloomy. It is possible and necessary to enjoy the “green” season, knowing the simple heat recipes.

– Supports the normal functioning of all systems and organs water. It should be clean, drinkable, preferably at room temperature (it will be absorbed faster by the walls of the stomach than ice). Going for a walk or to work in the summer, take a glass bottle of life-giving moisture with you. Thirst is an unpredictable feeling: it can catch you anywhere.

– Those who are bored of drinking plain water for breakfast, lunch and dinner will be helped out herbs and citrus. Water will cease to be fresh if you add a few drops of lime, crushed mint and a couple of ice cubes to it.

– Juices, caffeinated drinks and tea with sugar try exclude. They dehydrate an already tired body even more.

– Watch your nutrition. Autumn is coming, have time to take all the most useful things from summer! Berries, vegetables, fruits in a rich assortment are not a year-round luxury in our country. Enjoy seasonal dishes while consuming nature’s fresh produce. After such food, the sensations are light, and the benefits for the body are invaluable.

 – Dress properly! Dense fabrics, dark colors of clothes and synthetics will not help to avoid the heat. For summer, it is optimal to choose light, light clothes made of linen, cotton, silk. Then the skin breathes, and there will be no excessive sweating. A headdress will complement the dress code: a charming panama hat, hat or cap. For the sake of truth, we admit that hats are not popular in Russian megacities. If you are one of the anti-panamists, then try to walk in the shade and be under the scorching sun as little as possible.

 – Even physicians of ancient times appreciated the positive effect daytime sleep during hot time. Just 40 minutes of rest in a horizontal position improves blood circulation, reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, and improves mood. Brazilians, Spaniards, Greeks, residents of some African countries were so imbued with the idea of taking a nap during the hours of the sun that they called this holy time a siesta. It is better to go to bed between 13 and 15 hours. However, doctors do not recommend dozing for more than half an hour – in this case, the dream will be too deep: it will take a long time to wake up and recover. If office realities do not imply a siesta, then on a summer vacation such a reception will be very useful!

11 to 17:00 The sun is a particular health hazard. If possible, try to spend this time indoors or in the lacy shade of trees. You can soak up the sun in the morning hours, and a walk will be even more useful before bedtime, when the coolness falls.

Leaving the house on a hot summer afternoon, take a good mood with you. Nature does not have bad weather, which means that knowing all of the above “subtleties of behavior in the heat” will help make your summer bright and light.
