What makes 87% of fast food workers suffer

Almost every country has its own adage that the interests of the client take precedence over the interests of the seller. Remember at least the Soviet “The client is always right” or the Polish “The client is our pan”. But it turns out that this postulate is often overused by customers, disregarding the interests of the person on the other side of the counter or bar counter.

The fast food trade union in Australia surveyed more than 1 food service workers. And it turned out that about 87% of employees receive threats from naughty customers.

Some of the fast food workers interviewed reported being threatened with violence, rape, and cigarettes and hot coffee thrown at them. Almost three quarters of those who took part in the survey were women, and 41% were 17 years old or younger. More than a quarter of all respondents experienced physical violence, such as being hit and pushed – or threats of physical violence, including death threats and threats with weapons – from the client.

This prompted a union representing fast food and retail workers to launch the No One Deserves Service campaign.

When buying coffee today, smile at the seller! After all, the work of catering staff is not easy work.
