What cannot be sanctified at Easter

One of the main traditions for Easter is the consecration of the basket in the church. Easter in 2019 will come on April 28, and on Easter night many believers traditionally come to keep Easter and bring special baskets with food to the church. However, not all food or things can be sanctified. So, some are forbidden for consecration.

It:

  • blood sausage
  • any alcohol other than red wine,
  • material goods such as keys to cars, houses, bills and wallets.

2. Easter. The original form of Easter is a truncated pyramid, symbolizing the Holy Sepulcher. It will also fit in an Easter basket.

4. Lard, boiled pork, sausages and smoked meat are traditionally sacred from meat.

5. The only alcohol that is suitable for consecration is Cahors wine. The wine fits well into the set of products for the Easter basket. It symbolizes the blood shed by the Son of God for all mankind, in atonement for our sins.

6. Dairy products were banned, which means they too will find a place in the Easter basket. Hard cheese, sour cream, butter are excellent candidates for the consecration ceremony.
