Week 2 of pregnancy – 4 WA

Baby side

The embryo measures 0,2 millimeters. It is now well established in the uterine cavity.

Its development at 2 weeks of pregnancy

At fifteen days, the blastocyte, a cell originating from one of the first divisions of the fertilized egg, is divided into three layers. The inner layer (the endoderm) will evolve to form the lungs, liver, digestive system and pancreas. The middle layer, the mesoderm, is intended to transform into the skeleton, muscles, kidneys, blood vessels and heart. Finally, the outer layer (ectoderm) will become the nervous system, teeth and skin.

On our side

At this stage, if we take a pregnancy test, it will be positive. Our pregnancy is now confirmed. From now on, we must take care of ourselves and the baby that is growing in us. You may experience some early pregnancy symptoms. We are now adopting a healthy lifestyle. We make an appointment with our doctor for an early pregnancy consultation. Throughout this period, we will be entitled to seven prenatal visits, all reimbursed by Social Security. Three ultrasounds will also punctuate these nine months, around the 12th, 22nd and 32nd weeks. Various screenings will also be offered to us. If we still have concerns, we pick up our phone and make an appointment with our doctor, gynecologist or midwife (from the start of pregnancy, yes!) The health professional will be able to reassure us and explain to us the big changes that we are going to experience.

Our advice: this stage of pregnancy is the most sensitive. Some molecules are toxic, in particular those of tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, solvents, paints and glues … So we completely eliminate alcohol and cigarettes if we can (and if we do not succeed, we call at Tabac Info service!).

Your steps

We can now think about our birth plan and call a maternity ward to register and thus reserve our place. It may seem a little early, but in big cities (especially in Paris), sometimes you have to act quickly because you risk not giving birth where you want. So take the lead!
