Week 11 of pregnancy – 13 WA

Baby side

Our baby measures between 7 and 8 centimeters, and weighs about 30 grams.

Baby’s development in the 11th week of pregnancy

The arms of the fetus are now long enough to reach its mouth. You might even think he’s sucking his thumb! But this is not yet the case: he just puts his thumb in his mouth without really sucking it. His nose and chin become prominent. Its skin is still translucent, but it is starting to cover itself with a very fine down, the lanugo. The placenta, attached to the wall of the uterus and connected to the baby by the umbilical cord, completely nourishes the baby.

On our side

Phew! The risk of miscarriage is now negligible, barring an accident. The icing on the cake, the nausea begins to subside and the pregnancy is finally gaining speed. Our uterus continues to grow: it exceeds by about 3 or 4 centimeters the pubic symphysis, the joint connecting the two bones of the pubis. By pressing on your stomach, you can feel it. Weight side, we take on average 2 kg. Most of the weight gain takes place in the third trimester of pregnancy. It is therefore very important to try to limit it during the first and second trimesters.

We fill up on calcium by eating yogurt (cow’s or sheep’s milk) and crunching almonds. This nutrient is essential for the growth of your baby’s bones and teeth. In addition, a good dose of calcium also protects us from deficiencies, because the baby does not draw on our reserves.

Your steps

Be careful, remember to return the pregnancy declaration completed by the doctor or midwife to your Primary Health Insurance Fund (CPAM) and to your Family Allowance Fund (CAF), before the end of next week. You will thus be reimbursed at 100% for the compulsory medical examinations.
