PSYchology

The fact that Muscovites daily spend from a quarter to a third of their useful time traveling in transport is no secret to anyone. Here, for example, is my minibus to the metro — it would seem quickly, just some 15 minutes, but if you figure it out and calculate, then:

  • walk to the bus stop — 3-5 minutes
  • stand in line while waiting — 3-10 minutes
  • on the way with all traffic jams, traffic lights and stops — 15-25 minutes

Total «on the circle» goes from 20 to 40 minutes!

And if the same thing, but on foot?

So, one early autumn morning, having firmly decided to fulfill the Contract, but having not done my exercises in spite of all my oaths and promises, I replace the trip in transport with a peppy road on foot in the same direction, but cunningly cutting off unnecessary corners and turns. I note the time, turn on the pedometer.

“Come on, the sun, brighter splashes.

Burn with golden rays.

Hey comrade! More life!

Let’s sing, don’t lick, ankle! «

The result is a 3 km brisk walk in 33 minutes! That is, in fact, without changing the daily routine and the usual schedule, I got physical activity without spending a single minute on it in excess of the usual schedule. What comes up in a week?

And this is what comes up:

  • done 30994 steps
  • 25,8 km traveled
  • 1265 kilocalories burned
  • lost 0,5 kg of excess weight
  • 0 minutes of extra time spent

It is true what they say that «even the busiest person always has a lot of free time.» You just need to look for it in familiar things, change your approach to the situation, push yourself outside the comfort zone, just to see another zone of comfort, lightness and cheerfulness.

And this is just the beginning!
