Vaginal makeup: a worrying trend?

Vaginal makeup: a worrying trend?

There are new beauty trends that make you wonder how they came to be. Here’s one that worries healthcare professionals: vaginal makeup. Popularized by American star Kim Kardashian, this strange process aims to make private parts more “attractive”. Let’s see what it is and how it is a real danger.

What is vaginal makeup?

Coeven for conventional make-up, vaginal make-up is used to embellish with make-up, highlighters and “foundations”.

Anyone who knows Kim Kardashian from near or far knows that she sets trends, mainly on Instagram, like changing your shirt. Every day his new fad. As long as it only affects clothing, hairstyle or jewelry, it has no health consequences. But now, his influence is playing on much more dangerous ground.

Not to mention that its audience is often young, mostly teenagers, and its influence is gigantic. At an age when sexuality raises many questions and where female intimacy is sometimes a mystery, this type of outlandish advice represents a real danger for the image that we have of ourselves and for our health.

From one strange tendency to another

Before vaginal makeup, there were glitter to be inserted into the vagina that exploded at the right time … The trendsetters, if they exist, have therefore decided that female private parts need to be embellished. Until a few short years ago, only elaborate or full bikini waxing was an aesthetic playground. Suffice to say that the trend has gone a step above. The boom in the porn industry on the web is not for nothing either.

Why is vaginal makeup dangerous?

Allergies and irritations

The mucous membranes, for example of the eyes, can be made up without too many problems and on condition of using products designed for. In the context of intimate areas of the body, things are quite different.

In contact with products that have nothing to do with it, allergies can occur with itching. For one simple reason, the vulvar area is confined all day. If you put any product in it, except for health reasons, that product will macerate for hours. So obviously, make-up, even “studied” for this area, is unlikely to stick in place. Worse, it will create irritation.

Imbalance of the vaginal flora

Because make-up products present on the vulva or on the lips can migrate into the vagina, they present a strong danger for the balance of the vaginal flora.

This is mainly composed of good bacteria such as lactobacilli. They are privacy shields against infections. But if their balance is threatened by foreign bodies, hormonal changes, poorly adapted soaps, and a whole list of other possible factors, they can no longer function.

As a result, you can suffer from many disorders. In the first place very annoying irritations, mycoses, in other words fungi, strange losses. Or vaginosis, an infection of the vagina caused by an overgrowth of bad bacteria that destroys the good ones. Another repercussion, you can then experience a sexual disorder, with pain and irritation, during or after your intercourse. Such gynecological pathologies require a quick appointment with a specialist.

Re-establishing a rebalanced vaginal flora will take time and will require treatment. This is why “applying make-up to your vagina” is not recommended.

The vagina and the vulva are hyper-sensitive areas, applying makeup products to them is nonsense and a health hazard. Worse still, wanting to embellish this area would be to say that it is not very natural.

Of course, everyone’s privacy is her property, but this type of trend is very dangerous for the very image of the female sex. Just as it is for health. Before embarking on any trend affecting your privacy, it is essential to learn about its very real consequences.
