What to see so as not to be disappointed? The rating of the top 10 scariest horror films of 2015 is based on the opinion of viewers of one of the most popular Russian movie sites.
10 Extinction
Tenth place in the list of the most terrible horrors is the story of the survival of three people in a world overrun by zombies. Nine years ago, while trying to get out of the infected city, Jack lost his wife, but managed to save his newborn daughter. His friend Patrick also survived. Now they live in the city of Harmony, covered with snow and ice, and every day is a struggle for life. The film very well created an atmosphere of despair and hopelessness of the characters, who still hope that someday there will be other survivors.
9. Maggie
The ten most terrible horrors of 2015 continues the picture, one of the main roles in which was played by Arnold Schwarzenegger.
An incurable epidemic has swept the world, slowly but inevitably turning people into zombies. Maggie, the daughter of protagonist Wade Vogel, is infected. He cannot leave her in the hospital and brings her home. But here the girl, with whom irreversible terrible changes are taking place, becomes mortally dangerous for her loved ones.
Maggie is no ordinary horror movie. It is rather a drama that unfolds before the eyes of the viewer. The picture is terrible because of the despair experienced by a strong man who is unable to save his daughter.
8. House of Fear
Eighth place in the list of the most frightening horror films of the current year is occupied by a picture with a telling title. A group of students decided to conduct an experiment in an abandoned house to establish contact with supernatural forces. As a result, they were all killed by ghosts. A police officer arrived and found one survivor, John Escot. What he told the police psychologist was out of the ordinary.
7. Lazarus effect
A frightening film about experiments to raise the dead. Scientists after a series of failures managed to bring the experimental dog back to life. But later, oddities in his behavior began to arouse suspicion – it was as if someone was leading the dog, and this something was set up aggressively towards people. When one of the participants in the experiment died due to an accident, her fiancé decides to take a desperate step – to try to resurrect the girl …
6. Out of the dark
A young married couple arrives in Colombia, where Sarah is to take a high position in her father’s factory. A beautiful mansion has been prepared for them, in which their little daughter Hannah can find a lot of space to play. Gradually, they learn about local superstitions – supposedly children living in the town are in danger associated with a terrible event that happened many years ago. When unknown forces choose little Hannah as their victim, Sarah and her husband begin to fight them.
Out of the Dark is one of the best horror films of 2015 that continues the tradition of old classics and doesn’t use cheap gimmicks to create fear.
5. Atticus Institute
Since 1966, the institute, led by Henry West, has been researching people with paranormal abilities. Unfortunately, the scientist became a victim of fraud, and his reputation was greatly shaken. But one day, Judith Winstead enters the institute, which is fundamentally different from the rest of the experimental subjects. Its strength is so great that experiments with it quickly fall under the control of the military. But they soon realize that they are unable to cope with it. An eerie picture, worthy of being included in the list of the most terrible horrors of 2015.
4. The terrible will of the gods
Japanese horror films are famous for their crazy plots. The new horror film “The Terrible Will of the Gods” is a kind of fusion of “The Hunger Games” and “Royal Battle”. High school students become participants in competitions organized by the gods, and their lives are at stake – the losers are ruthlessly killed. As it turns out later, such games take place in many large cities. Heroes of myths and folklore play against schoolchildren: the roly-poly doll Daruma, Russian nesting dolls and other characters. The picture deservedly takes the fourth place in the top of the scariest horror films of 2015 for its incredible combination of violent scenes and dark humor.

When London began to be bombed during World War II, children began to be evacuated to safety. The young teacher Eva and her pupils had to move inland. Refugees settled in an abandoned mansion, standing on the outskirts. The only road to it is blocked twice a day by the sea, which makes the house temporarily cut off from everyone. Eva tries to cheer up the children, but notices that something is wrong with the mansion – as if the arrival of the kids woke up the dark forces. The only assistant to the girl in protecting the pupils from an unknown danger is the military pilot Harry.

A remake of the famous 1982 film, which rightfully takes second place in the top scariest horror films of 2015.
The Bowen family moves to a new home. On the first day, they encounter a manifestation of supernatural forces. At first, adults do not believe that what is happening is the work of a poltergeist. Meanwhile, the evil has chosen the smallest member of the family, the Bowen daughter, as its victim. One night, the girl goes missing, but her parents keep hearing from her. They turn to paranormal experts for help. Arriving, they realize that they are faced with an incredibly powerful poltergeist, which can only be dealt with by joining the efforts of all family members. The Bowens agree to take on a dangerous enemy in order to save their daughter.
1. Astral 3
Topping the list of this year’s scariest horrors is the third round of trials that befell powerful psychic Alice Reiner. Chronologically, this picture is a prequel to the previously released two parts of the trilogy. Alice is approached for help by a girl, Quinn, who believes that her recently deceased mother is trying to contact her. The psychic retired after the death of her husband and refuses to help, but gives advice not to try to make contact with the dead, because very dangerous creatures can come from the astral plane with them into the world of the living. But when trouble happens to Quinn, Alice decides to help the girl, although traveling to the astral plane threatens the psychic himself with mortal danger.
