The model pantry

Like our menu, our pantry was not called a “model” for nothing. Few of us can boast that we keep so much food all the time. With a minimum of planning and a little patience, however, it is possible to build a good reserve and avoid being caught off guard.

The model pantry contains the following.

  • Staple foods. Beyond bread, a liter of milk, fresh vegetables and fruit, several foods would benefit from being “reclassified” in this category. Plain, low-fat yogurt as well as canned tomatoes and legumes, to name a few, can easily become staple foods.
  • “Good convenience stores”. Cartons of broth, pesto, smoked salmon, soy pudding, tamari almonds, dried cranberries, and other prepared foods line the pantry of busy but health conscious people. Dear, these products? More than the staples, but much less than the pizza you order at the last minute! Or the tender bar filled with sugar and fat bought from the vending machine. The same logic applies to dark chocolate, a little luxury that costs no more than an ice cream cone.
  • Products to discover. Quinoa, hulled barley, buckwheat flour, frozen berries, silky tofu, beans of all kinds, nut butter… Eating well means discovering new flavors! Some of our superfoods are one of them.
