Swine flu reached 11 European countries

According to the latest data from doctors, 107 cases of influenza A / H1N1 (this is the official name for swine flu) have been confirmed in 11 European countries. A dangerous infection can reach the Russian capital in a couple of weeks.

Swine flu is spreading across Europe. Thus, in Austria, one case of influenza was registered, Denmark – one, France – four, Germany – nine cases, Ireland – one, Italy – four, Spain – 57, Switzerland – one, the Netherlands – one, Great Britain – 27 cases, Portugal – one.

In total, according to the European Center for Disease Control in Stockholm, a total of 1162 cases of the new influenza virus were confirmed outside Europe on Tuesday, 27 of which were fatal.

Within a couple of weeks, the influenza A / H1N1 virus can reach Moscow. If the infection reaches the capital, 7 million people will get sick, predicts Nikolai Filatov, head of the Rospotrebnadzor department in Moscow. He announced this to the Novosti news agency the day before, assessing the situation with the spread of influenza as pre-epidemic. “If measures are not taken, three million people in Moscow may become ill with a severe form, 2,7 million will need outpatient treatment, 480 people will need to be hospitalized,” Filatov said.

The main symptoms of infection with the A / H1N1 virus: headache, muscle pain, profuse runny nose, vomiting. However, the appearance of all symptoms is not necessary: ​​the disease can proceed without any external manifestations at all, and such forms are the most dangerous. In the risk group, first of all, there are people aged 25 to 40 years – it is among them that most of the sick.
