Sweet potato: its health benefits

Sweet potato: pro tips for preparing it well

To choose well. Better to favor a very firm and heavy sweet potato. Stain-free and not too crooked to make it easier to peel. Usually orange in color, there are also purple sweet potatoes, which are even sweeter.

For the preparation. So that it does not oxidize, it is best to peel and cut it just before cooking. Or put it in cold water while waiting to cook it.

Conservation side. Store preferably in a dry, cool place away from light to prevent germination. It should be consumed within 7-10 days after purchase.

For baking. Your choice: in the oven at 180 ° C for forty minutes, in boiling water or steam for about fifteen minutes, or in a pan or in the deep fryer. Everything is allowed when it comes to cooking!

 

Sweet potato: the magic associations to cook it well

Soup, velouté or mash. Alone or combined with other vegetables, sweet potatoes can soften the stronger taste of certain vegetables such as cauliflower.

In nuggets. Cooked and then crushed, it is mixed with raw and mixed chicken, chives or coriander. Then, we shape small pallets that we brown in the pan. A delight!

In accompaniment. Rissolée, roasted in the oven…, the sweet potato goes very well with even the most popular fish and meats such as cod or duck.

Simmered dishes. It fits into tagines, couscous, revisited stews and all dishes that cook for a long time.

Dessert version. Cakes, fondants, flans or pancakes…, the sweet potato can be used wonderfully in many sweet recipes, especially with coconut milk.
